ive got access to an 08 service manual would the specs, measurements, and directions be the same for a 2012?

yes the bike was unchanged from 08 to 12, manual should be the exact same.

Yup. There were some very minor updates (one was a slightly larger battery for either 2009 or 2010), but for all intents and purposes, nothing critical or important changed in any meaningful way. Kawi has not released any new service manual, or AFAIK even a service manual supplement, since 2008.

My manual for my 2012 says it applies to years 2008 through 2012, and it did not come with any supplements, so yeah.
