Planning on trying a Tire swap....
So, I picked up a set of stock wheels and gt501 tires for my 2007. 100 front 130 rear, and love them. (also bronze wheels on black bike) I want to change he worn tires out on my stock silver wheels for dirt bike tires with tubes.
I'm looking into the Shinko 244 tires in 3.00x16 front and rear because they are the only size I can find that look to fit. Anyone done this before? I ride everyday to work, rain or shine but swap to my truck in the snow and deep cold, and this year I want to see if some dual sport tires and some protection might keep me on the bike year round. Any suggestions or ideas would be great. I came to the ninja via scooters so the idea of more versatility really intrigues me. |

I'm not sure any tires are well suited for snow, up until the ones with spikes that those ice racers use. Dual sport / dirt-focused tires would be just as hard and cold, and nothing is going to keep them from slipping and sliding around a bit. Doesn't mean a careful rider can't tiptoe through some slippery stuff, including snow, but it's probably never going to be particularly fun.

Had not thought about the tire compound being a issue. Though I should have.
Would there be any issue running tubes in the stock wheels? If not I might give this a shot anyway. The tires are only 40 bucks each. |
