LED blinkers on all 4 corners...but why??

Hi,

Now I know there are threads already about the installation of LED blinkers (e.g. protons + Bikemonkey) on all 4 corners...I have been through all of these but I am still confused.

I understand it's the way the blinker indicator light (in the dash) is wired up which causes all 4 LEDs to light up; regardless of whether the indicator switch is on Left or Right.

1. Turn Left blinker on.
2. Current passes from the flasher to the Left Front and Back blinkers.
3. The blinkers are grounded, circuit complete, blinkers light up.
4. At the same time current also passes through the dash indicator light, which finds it's ground through the Right blinker. Dash indicator light blinks.

But why, when you have LEDs on all 4 corners, does the opposite (in this case right) blinker light up. When it does not when you have only front, back or no LEDs? I just don't quite get it....it's probably simple.

Thanks

The dash indicator is wired up to both +L & +R turn sig's. Being a small wattage bulb, it will light using the opposite turn sig bulb's as a path to ground without lighting them(the opposite turn sig filament/'s). LED's take a very small amount of current to make them light up, So the dash indicators +12 will make them light up as there used for ground path

1) change out your mech flasher to an electronic one
2) install two diodes to separate out your L/R signal electronics (behind the instrumental cluster).

I've come up with the procedures for diodes installation and someone have done a fantastic DYI for it..do a search and you'll find it.

I have the same issue, and it only affects the left side. I said my ninja was stock but they are all LED's.

Wonder why my right turn signal is fine, but the left side lights up all 4 and without an indicator light.

I would say check your wiring for the lights. Something isn't right. Maybe fauly flasher? I ended up replacing the stock bulbs with LED bulbs and replacing the mechanical flasher with an electronic one so I did not end up using any extra resistors.
