Why don't you get one with full suspension and disk brakes?

LOL I actually just sold my old Diamondback ViperX BMX bike. It gave me an open slot and I wanted a new ride for commuting. So this was an instant decision. So I have the ninjette, the soon to be Trek Soho S, the Cannondale M400 and the Trek 1.5 (not including my wife's Specialized Globe).

I've wanted to get a single speed for a while now. I was a stone throw away from converting the Cannondale to a single speed. Then I thought why ruin a perfectly good mountain bike, and I decided on this. ran it by my wife and it will be my b-day gift from her (received early).

So now I have a single speed and fixie all in one!

You won't catch me doing this stuff though...

Not yet. I'll pick it up this week and then I'll decide.

I know, I failed. I won't be as cool as those kids riding the chopper bikes. I should have grabbed one of these:

I would if I could. My wife would kill me though.

She expected me to sell my mountain bike when I get this one. I told her, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I just told her it would go up on the wall when not in use. Either this one or the mountain bike. She was happy with that.

I have eight bicycles and the Ninjette. Three are restored vintage road racers. One is a modern road racer, one is a modern Triethalon bike, and one is a modern custom Touring bike that I built up from a frameset. Two are Stainless three speed folding bikes for the boat. Am currently restoring a pair of Panasonic road bikes for some friends. They are 60`s vintage bikes that our friends rode in CA when they were first married. Their son brought them to me for restoration and he will present the bikes to them this summer. I guess they have a lot of sentimental value to them. Mark, I think you will really enjoy the Trek. A single speed will really give you a workout.

I know if I ditch some of my other "hobbies" she will be ok with my cycling obsession.

She lists off a long list of my "hobbies"

My only real hobbies these days are
1. drawing
2. video games
3. cycling
4. motorcycles
5. computers

and I think that is about it.

She likes to list scuba diving, but I did that because I wanted us to have a hobby together. I couldn't get a refund on the classes since she backed out to being claustrophobic. So I just finished it and got my c-card, therefore it is MY hobby, not hers. lol whatevah!!!

I don't think I have many hobbies. What do you think?

Not really. Selling a bike is a sure loss. The used bike market is in the sewer. You would be better off donating a bike to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Ditto computers. People want the latest. Of my eight bikes, only one was bought new. Of course, I am partial to the classics. I can`t pass a yard sale that has a bike--have to check it out.

My wife claims I have the same problem - too man toys and hobbies: cars, motorcycles, bicycles, video games, a/v, ect. And I can't stop tinkering with any of them.

Nor can I. If I see one, I'm stopping. I love the classics. I just don't own any...yet.

Not so sure, Addy, At least here, most of the sport bike and dual sport crowd are into bicycles. It`s the same Zen thing--only slower, and in some cases less expensive. Riding on two wheels is a unique experience--motorized or not. My prized bicycle cost $500US more than my Ninjette.
