I NEED NEED help!
So I am supposed to have a kid pick up my bike this thursday. He is coming from pretty far with his parents and told me cash in hand. I am looking for my 636 now and found these 2. Input would be sooo helpful =]
http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ269274902 AND this one, by the same guy. He buys them and rebuilds them until they are in driving condition. He honestly has about 7 bikes in his garage, yamaha, honda and kawi's http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...dIdZ289829547# Quick info: first is '05 and second link is '06, both have rebuilt statuses, 06 has more mileage by 1500km~, he said "Your pick, 4200$" Both have some dings and scratches (06 probably abit more) -06 has the colour I like more -06 fender eliminator and integrated tailight BUT a bit more damage -05 was a theft recovery BUT does seem to have been on the ground Thank you everybody for the input =]

Are these all salvage title bikes? If so, I'd look elsewhere.
Crap, depending on how the ministry of transportation operates in Alberta, you might not be able to get those bikes on the road with a legal title. If you have a local forum, you might want to run this by them. |

My first question is:
Is the $4200 USD on CAN? Also, what is the conversion? how much is $4200 USD in CAN? Second, are they salvage titles? If so, that guy is high on a mixture of crack, pcp, and fairy dust. Third, supposing that they are not salvage titles, the true value of beat up 636's with 10K+ miles on them is about $3500 USD, give or take a few hundred. Take $3500 cash USD and plunk it down for the one you like. You gotta consider that these bikes are all probably going to need new tires ($300), brakes & flush (~$200), fork oil changed, new chain, motor oil change, and a valve inspection. So you got like $1000 additional to spend to ensure they are running safely and dependably. Otherwise, walk on the deal. |

I like the 06 better, but you definately need to check and see if they have clear titles, or salvaged like James said I would walk away. I know in Kentucky you can have a salvaged bike on the road (I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong) but in TN, its a no-no.

Yeah, both bikes in the links you posted are 'rebuilt' titles. I dont know how it is in Canada, but in certain states in the U.S. that adds many complications. The price he is asking is at least twice as much as what those bikes are (maybe) worth.

Too40 pretty much summed it up.
Also, most insurance companies wont insure rebuilt/salvaged bikes or they charge you up the butt for it.

Yeah, the rebuild and salvage thing doesn't sit well with me either. But it's your money.
