Rear brake caliper mounting help.

I recently traded my 2000 CBR 929 for a 2009 ninja 250r (more on the insanity later). To my surprise the brake pads were missing from the rear caliper but were included with the trade. The guys story was that he removed the rear wheel for tire replacement but could not get the caliper to line up with the pads in place. No biggy right?
This is far from my first time working on a motorcycle but I'm stumped. I have watched the rear brake pad replacement video (twice), used Kawasaki's rear wheel diagram to verify that all items are in their correct location, and swore at it multiple times with zero success. I've taken some pictures of the predicament I'm in and hopefully someone can shed some light on this. Please excuse my pictures, all I have is my ipod.
The issue has to do with a small "bump" on the caliper mounting bracket that prevents it from sliding over the rotor.

Look forward to your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help.

the things that you think are supposed to move, do in fact move. I think yours must be seized or frozen. take the boots off where they are and try to get them to loosen up and move.

KKim,

You were 100% correct. With some serious convincing I was able to loosen the bracket fastener on the "non-hooked" side first. Once that was completely un-screwed from the bracket I had to slowly yet forcefully remove the "hooked-side" fastener with a breaker bar and allen wrench. The boots are in good shape however, the lubricant inside the hooked side was completely dried up which in turn locked up the shaft.
Tomorrow I intend to do a very thorough cleaning and lubrication of the entire caliper assembly. Any idea as to what type of lubricant is used in there? Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks,

I use something similar to this when working on brake pieces that are supposed to slide/move in a caliper. Any automotive parts store should carry something close. main thing is to keep it lubed... you've seen what happens when things dry up in there.

remove the sliding pieces, clean them up well with some sandpaper and rinse clean. apply the lubricant and reinstall the piece back into the caliper.

Though this is an older post, hope someone sees this. fbalsam, do you think you could repost the pics and better explain how you cleaned the caliper shafts/what do you mean by "non hooked side." I'm having the exact same problem on my '09 ninja 250r. Could really use the help since I already spent an hour trying to loosen the darn thing.
