Moto GP moto2
I noticed this weekend that the lap times for the 600's were not that much faster than the 125's
The top 4 125 riders were turning laps faster than the last 10 600 riders. Go figure. 1:27.867 for the fastest 125 1:25.255 for the fastest 600 Ill bet there are a few out there who say a 125 doesnt have enough power to go on the interstate.

The 125's are so light and agile they would probably own the 600's at same time on track, if it weren't for the straightaway's |

I'm pretty certain those 125s are also putting out around twice the horsepower of our 250s, but that's neither here nor there
On a side note, Moto2 is so freaking fantastic. Those guys are fighting for position tooth and nail the whole race every race Although I'm not sure why Iannone's been lagging behind so bad as of late. I love watching that guy race, but when he's not near the front, he doesn't get any screen time T_T I haven't watched the 125s this year, but I'll definitely miss those 600s at Laguna Seca this weekend. Does anyone know why the Laguna Seca GP weekend is shared with AMA race classes instead of the lower GP classes? |

It is a bit strange. He switched to a Suter chassis this year, which was supposed to be the most capable / fastest. But clearly he's not meshing with it.

Clearly indeed :/ He started the season strong, but it's been all downhill from there. It hurts to see last years lap record holder on Sachsenring qualifying in the back of the grid. I was wondering what it was that changed, and that seems like the most reasonable explanation.
Hopefully he'll figure it out before the season's through, or he'll, indeed, be confirmed for a ride in the premier class next year and can just focus on riding the 1000. His riding reminds me a lot of Simoncelli's, and races just aren't the same without that extra bit of "win it or bin it" crazy |

And the 600's are putting down alot more than a stock gsxr750.

Surprisingly, they're not. The Moto2 bikes have about 125 hp at the rear wheel with their spec honda engine, they are pretty lightly tuned, and optimized for consistency more than anything else. A stock 750 puts out a bit more than that, sometimes nearer to 130 hp.
The World SuperSport (WSS) 600's are much more highly tuned, with the front runners rumored to be between 140-145 hp at the rear wheel.

Yup! The Moto2 guys that came from WSS were surprised at how weak the spec motors felt, but you're right, they are still quite a ways up from a stock 600RR mill.

i think i read it was the cost that the smaller 125 and moto 2 teams that kept them from coming to laguna-they would have to go back to europe and then return to indy, but it's probably the only way ama can get anybody to watch them these days.iannone is off the hook, but suter spread himself to thin and really only supports one team evidently, and the rest are suffering.125's are 2 strokes-totally different animal than moto2
