CVMA 2012-2013 Season Round 4 roll call

Whelp, it's been a while since we last had a racer post whore session on this here site, and I could really, really, really use some sunshine right now.

I didn't get around to swapping out my rear shock like I had originally planned, but I have a new paint job and I'm ready to start over on the learning curve. So who else is back in for some cvma racing this month?

COme by this weekend, me and some bro's will be working on our bikes and eating pizza. You can put in your shock thingy you speak of.

Nah, I'm just slacking because I got the shock, but still need to get a different spring for my weight before I install it, and springs are expensive. I'm probably just gonna ride what I have this round in the name of being broke and deal with it.

Thanks just the same though, chief

Dammit Gurk, you don't even race and you don't even have a 250 anymore (but thank you)

So wait, Chris, are you actually racing this round? Did you get body work and do all your safety wiring already?

That is the plan. I ordered a belly pan which i will mount to my stock bodywork. I still need to safety wire the bike though. I will take the racer school thingy on friday, and hopefully get to race on saturday, sunday.

It wasn't very clear whether or not i could sign up at chuckwallah on friday or if it would be too late.

You mean you're not sure if you can register to race that same weekend immediately after taking NRS on Friday? That you can indeed, so long as your bike is all prepped. Just don't forget that you'll have to pay an extra yearly license fee ($120) that first time in addition to the usual entry fees ($100 for the first race+$50 for each additional- there are 4 250 races, so it's $250 if you want to race in all of them).

You'll also need to rent a transponder for the weekend (which is $30).

So initial race weekend fees are as follows:

License - $120
Races - $250 (First race is 100, following races are 50 X 3 for a total of 4 races, 2 per day)
Transponder - $30

You're looking at $400! and that's not even including the cost of New Racer School! Welcome to racing! On top of that there's obviously the cost of gas, for getting your vehicle there as well as gas for your bike, food, and water. Racing aint remotely cheap yo. But welcome to the party we'll be more than happy to have you join our **** fest.

Also.

IN FOR RACING!
and for friday practice.

Oh yeah, I always forget people don't own their own transponders. That must be simply dreadful.

I should probably make sure mine still charges

Got it.

Thanks for affirming that i can in fact register for the race last minute.
Definitely was a doubt in my mind.
So to pay for the races is it cash or check/debit?

And the transponder is how much to own?

I know they take credit, so they probably take that stuff too.

A transponder (AMB 260) will run you around $400 new, iirc, but around $250-300 used IF you can find one. They usually sell within minutes when people post them up on forums, so it can be difficult (I got mine off the MRA forum, a colorado based race series. It's often easier to get things outside socal). I raced enough last year that mine pretty much paid for itself, but you'll probably just want to rent for a while

I'm out.

The knees are still hurting from the last crash and with a 50% crashing record, I'm not going to risk it. Good working knees is something I like! You guys/gays have fun out there!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I would yell at you more, but I have two bad knees and fully understand. This had best not be the last we see of Dean though.

Oh, and you should still drive/carpool out with someone or something so you can stand around looking classy at the banquet @_@

IN for all 3 days. So happy to be able to say that more than a week in advance.

I killed my battery with my shoddy gauge cluster wiring so the new one is in the mail. Tiff, did you buy that other sub-harness for yours? I can hook it up so you have RPM in about 10 minutes, but it is more work to include oil pressure and water temp.

What the- I don't believe it. Do you even race?

More importantly- I KNEW there was something I was completely forgetting about. That'd be awesome! I'll get it ordered post haste and you can work your wiring voodoo. I'll just assume my oil pressure and water temperature would always just read as "Totally Xtreme!!!" like the rest of the bike and not worry about those

hmm... i wonder what from...

In for racing & banquet, probably not friday. WAY too broke from holiday activities. Xmas gifts, KLR prep, 4 days in Tahoe, new dirtbike (shhh), 5 days in Hawaii next week, 2 big bear snowboard trips, and girls. HOLY balls it adds up.

What? Tiff is gonna wear black? And to top it off, a dress? I've seen Tiff in a black dress fueled by alcohol and the results were amusing to say the least! Must make the banquet at all costs! Plus I want my trophy!

Remember now...anything that happens at the track stays at the track. So anything CAN and WILL be shown at the TRACK! And that includes off-track shenanigans

LOL! I was out there this last weekend. F* it was cold at night, 36 degrees.

I rode half a day on Saturday. My left knee could only take about 40% of my weight when bent and the right ankle was sore enough that I only did one session on Sunday.

I'll probably make the banquet and get hammered!

At the end of a race season there is a banquet held to hand out trophies, tell each other how cool we are, and feel good as racers. It will be held Saturday night at a casino in Indio. $30 to get in. I think you may be able to join? Not sure on that one...

It started in September. They switched season opening times so the september round was round 1 of 2013 and round 4 of 2012 at the same time. That made November the final round of the 2012 season as well as round 3 of the 2013 season. January will be simply round 4 of 2013 with the 2014 season beginning this coming September.
