recommended size are 120/60/17 & 150/60/17. I've installed 160 rear because there are no such size stock available at the time, anywhere in my town. everything else such like chain & sprocket are still standard (oem)

So the "VROSSI 3" front & 4.5" rear" rim set that you are selling on your blog site needs no modification and will work with what we currently have on our stock rear wheel (rear sprocket, rotor, etc)? -- If so I'm in!

didn't see any rubbing mark.. but if you hesitate, just slap those 150/60 for peace in mind.

rear sprocket, rotor, etc. will fit on like OEM wheel.

Woo hoo... one of those sets is mine. Well technically they are really for the GF's bike, but either way I'm stoaked.

I'll post up some pictures when I get them installed.

They are going to be stripped and powdercoated gold to match her Pazzo levers... the bike is pearl black with a undertail and flush mounts, GSXR muffler.

You know, we'll still be able to tell it's a 250 right?

Just giving you a rough time.

I think it looks cool, I just am not sold on the performance "gains" of going with significantly wider tires.

Definitely post pictures. Modded 250's that are state-side are always cool to see

to be honest, those Sea Mail tracking number are the poorest I've ever seen. but it's also the cheapest option to deliver the package oversea. They do offer EMS shipping but that will cost around $360 USD just to ship it out

I would like a set too.

Don't forget we are going to need new bearings for them so keep that in mind. Bearings are not expensive though.

If you compare a 130 70 17 to a 150 60 17 tire you will see that there is more sidewall or contact patch to be used when you want to exploit more lean angle.....thus in most cases you can go faster in corners.

We've been into this so many times on this forum. Do we really have to get back into it again?

Yes, but only on a wider rim. And even then a) it will weigh more, which will make the bike a little less able to be flicked back and forth, and it will be more unsprung weight, which means the suspension will be less effective, and it will be more rotating weight, and b) how often have you been able to power-slide on a 250 on a 130/70-17 rear tire?

The catch with your example is the build and compound of those two different sizes of tires. The tires available in 150/60-17 sizes are all super-sticky, radial sport tires. The tires in 130/70-17 are not as sticky, and are usually bias-ply construction.

A tire in a 130/70-17 size that is the same construction and same rubber compound as the tire in the 150/60-17 size will keep the handling characteristics of bike (i.e. lightness between turns) and get more grip than the stock tires.

Your talking extremes. I will tell you what. I will compare total weights of the stock wheels/tires to the bigger wheels/tires. Then see how much of this weight could cause such a huge problem with suspension which by the way has been completely upgraded and adjustable. Now the gyroscopic effect will play a small part but these are not Carbon Fiber or Magnesium wheels where the outside weight of the wheel matters most. Look up MOI. The tires being larger should weigh slightly heavier or pretty close to any comparable or same brand tire in the factory size. Same goes for the wheels. So yes the combination will be heavier....big deal. Your talking about a bike that is already super light and will be lighter from other mods I do to it. A fair trade in my book.

Available lean angle is my goal. All I have to do is mod my dogbones to allow me to raise the rear enough to compensate. Not a problem.

Installed the rear rim! :)

Got my rims in over the weekend and installed the rear on with a new tire. (Had a nail in the rear tire so it was necessary that I install the rear first) Later on I am planning on changing out the front tire and rim as well. I had to cut just a bit off of the chain guard but it was worth it. Handles perfectly. Honestly don't notice any difference. I just ride on the highway back and forth to work. Here's some pics!

I had to cut just a bit off of the chain guard but it was worth it. Handles perfectly. Honestly don't notice any difference. I just ride on the highway back and forth to work. Here's some pics!
my vrossi's came in also.....did your rear rim have bumps that look like divets all over it by the spokes? looks like a bad cast on mine

Mine looked the same way, like a casting issue... when I get mine back from the powder coater, I'll take a few close up shots of the flaws. The casting flaws dont seem to be too deep, so I just said F-it and sent them to the coater.

I'm hoping it doesn't affect the strength of the rear wheel any. The front wheel looked fine and was defect free.

yeah my local shop guy and i looked at it and said f-it also. you cant beat the price, so i just had them mount up the tires.

if it continues to bother me i will order the chemco rear wheel.....or if i continue to enjoy the bike i will order the Galespeed Type-S rims

no holes, just bumps in the metal that look ugly. Great price so no concern
