I would guess that the small piece goes between the swing arm and slider.
They look nice, what kinda are they?

Yah that's my setup as well. I made my rear spools a little loose so it can spin while I set it up on the rear stand. I find it helps in lifting, what did you guys do? tight or loose?

tight. I'd be concerned that they would vibrate loose.

posting here because not worth a new thread.

i remember some one buying the t rex spools. would those fit with the northern tool stand? I previously bought the 6.50 spools on ebay, and those are too short to be caught on the stand hooks ( i do not want to make that same mistake again) Do you guys think this would be any longer?

I'm using TRex spools and the Northern Tools stand. The stand is adjustable width, so no problems.

ty, i feel secure in this purchase now, thx. Also, how did you permanently hold the hooks onto the stand? if you used epoxy, how did you make sure that the hooks were properly straight and aligned?

2 part epoxy from HD. Make sure you get the one specified for metal. Just goop the stuff around the perimeter of the top cap and place it in the holes. Hold for a minute or so while it gels up and wipe off the excess. Good to go.

I have the same ones (shogun) as hogfan83.
I put the skinny side toward the swing arm.
BTW, not sure if they were just on too tight or if the screw just of poor quality, but in my low side, this broke right off and the left over piece of screw is stuck inside the hole in my swing arm now

use the appropriate sized screw extractor and remove it.

I'm putting this here because I figured it kinda goes with the topic, What size spools does the 09 250r take? I have some 10mm but they seem way too big, I tried screwing them in and it was a no go.

The 250r does in fact take 10mm spools. That 10mm refers to the bolt itself, but there are many different sized spools that all have a 10mm bolt. Do your spools fit into the hole but they just don't look right or sit right against the swingarm?

I can get the very tip in then if I try to screw it in more it won't go. I used an allen wrench to try and get it further in but it wouldn't move all the way in.

Make sure that the spools really are 10mm and not 12mm, and then check to see if the threads on either the spools themselves or the spool boss on the swingarm are buggered up. Definitely don't force anything, if it doesn't fit easily something is wrong.

those spool hole threads are normally filled with paint which makes screwing in the spools a bit more difficult. make sure it's clean and try using a regular hex head bolt in there first to clean out the paint from the threads.

as Alex said, don't force anything. some wd40 might help clean/lube the threads when screwing it in.

One other thing to check is the thread pitch. My spools came with 10mm bolts, but the thread pitch was 1.5 which does not match the mount on the swing arm. As a result they wouldn't go in. When I got a bolt with 1.25 thread pitch it went in smooth as silk. If you want to test the thread pitch of your bolt, you can take the rubber plug off one of the mirror mounting holes on the clutch lever perch or front brake perch. They are M10x1.25 with no paint on the threads. If you cant put the bolt in there it is definitely the wrong size.

true, but we already know the spool bolts he has fits the holes that are threaded in the swingarm for the spools.

Is that correct, Tubesock?

That is correct, and what I mean't by the bike shakes (shakes was probably a poor choice of words) I mean it wobbles and moves as I tried to screw it down and about that time I decided it shouldn't be this hard and I should ask for help (which I got from you guys). But anyway I went to a friend of mine who I wrestled with in high school who's father owns and operates his motorcycle repair shop, I went in and asked for help and he said it actually was all a product of the paint! He took a threader to it, cleaned the paint out and it went in just fine after that.

Kawasaki Green Swingarm Spools

Has anybody come across Kawasaki Green Swingarm Spools? I would like to use them with a Pit Bull stand.

You know, it would have been so much easier if Kawi had just weleded the spool bosses flush with the OUTSIDE of the swingarm instead flush with the INSIDE. Would really have opened up the aftermarket without the need for some silly little cone thingy!

To the OP, glad you got it figured out.

I was able to find the one I needed at Ace Warehouse by itself for $5 instead of the $50 kit at Home Depot. I was ready to just return the 2nd set of spools/slider and get a different stand that didn't require them. Glad I gave it a try. Was a lot easier to do than I had expected.

You have them on right Michael - I have the same set.
