What's your chain/sprocker setup?

I'm buying new chains/sprockets. I've read the ''What replacement chain/sprockets should I consider?'' article on the wiki.

I'm so torn because on the one hand i love the look of the Gold 'alloy' aluminium adonized sprockets. But I've been warned against them for street use.

I've found an AFAM Steel chain and sprocket kit in stock size.

This is what i've decided on at the moment.

Does anyone use the aluminium sprockets for street use? if so how do they hold up? do they last as badly as i'm told?

I can't quote yet on the durability of aluminum sprockets vs. steel as I've only just installed a Vortex CAT5 43T aluminum rear sprocket.. What I will tell you is that the 43T rear sprocket feels so much better and seems to smooth the ride out a bit over the stock 45T rear..

Just like any part on any vehicle, the durability is based on how you use and abuse the part.. If you're really that in love with the gold look, I say go for it.. It is a relatively inexpensive part and also easy to swap out when the time comes.. Good luck in whatever you choose!!

Primary drive x-ring chain, JT steel sprockets
aluminum has never been robust enough for me

Steel for the street, DID chain JT sprockets +1/-2

You definitely want a steel tooth sprocket for the street. If you want to add some bling though check out supersprox, that's what I run on my supermoto. http://www.supersproxusa.com

With all your comments please keep in mind that Jason's Ninja is FI, so the sprockets are:
14T front and 43T rear.
Jason maybe get a 15T for the front and then from 42T to 47T what ever you like as rear but from your selection check for the length of the chain (there are calculators for this in the web).

Was just about to post this, 43 in the rear stock over here.

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like the general concensus is to go with steel, and X ring, difference in price between O ring and X ring is pretty negligable over here.

Whichever chain you pick, remember that proper maintenance of the chain is the key. Regardless of X, O, or no ring chains
