Exhaust & Muffler Restoration/Cleanup
I own a 2004 Ninja EX250 and would like to try to clean up my exhaust and muffler.
As you can see the exhaust pipe has a decent amount of rust. The muffler has some sort of blue finish on it which has become cloudy and splotched over the years. Can someone recommend a way to stabilize and perhaps cover up the rust on the exhaust system? Also, can the finish on the muffler be restored with some sort of polish? Thanks! |

You might have the most luck with sanding it down a bit and just giving it a little paint job with some high temperature paint. Any kind of engine paint would work.

Our 2004 had the same issue. The muffler looks like black chrome or plating of some kind, not a painted finish, to me.
Try a good quality liquid wax. It may take a couple times - but go slow. Too aggressive of a polish will dull and cut the finish too much and you may go through it. The rust is another issue, and polish won't help that. |
