Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and new to motorbikes in general. I took the Cdn equivalent of the MSF at the end of July. About the same time I found my "little red devil". I've been doing a bunch of practicing in parking lots and had my first road ride just a short time ago - what a rush! That was the first time I had the bike out of 3rd gear and had the RPMs over 7K. I'm just hoping for some more good weather to get some more rides in before having to pack it in for the season.

My hubby is just thrilled to have someone to ride with.

Thanks for the welcome!

We had a lovely day on Sunday so took the bikes out for a ride. Went on my first ride down the highway. I successfully made it down the gravel road from our property to the closest paved road without any issues. Whew! Our route took us on a nice road with a bunch of back to back curves so I got some good practice looking through the curves, straighten the bike, and back into a curve in the opposite direction. At first my turns were a little rough because I was concentrating on keeping my position with my husband so I decided to drop back a bit and concentrate on riding the curves properly. We had a couple opportunities for me to work on my acceleration including a turn onto a highway from a stop. In keeping up with my husband, I figured out how quickly I need to shift gears!

Only had one embarrassing oops moments - turning right from a stop in town. With concentrating on making the turn, accelerating, and turn off my blinker, and ignoring the big truck in front of me waiting for me to clear the intersection I totally missed my shift, ended up revving the engine, and honking my horn getting everyone's attention.

But overall I was pretty happy with how the ride went. I felt much more stable in my starts and stops, my shifting was much smoother, and on the return trip I did much better with handling the curves and maintaining the position and pace with my husband. And I find my bike to be a lot of fun!
