I passed the MSF course!!!!!!!!

I bet I scared you Gary, Kelly, ect.

Ok I am in the Air Force and I have found ONE new benifit....unlimited MSF courses**

**space a of course, and permission from your sups.

So as some of you know I got the opportunity to take the MSF here on island approx 4 months after passing with my own ninjette (I have owned it for 3 weeks so far). I went with a friend, and let me say if any of you have the oppurtunity to take it again, especially if you feel the advanced course, or sport bike class is too much right now, then please do it. My first time around on a Buel Blast I scored a 90. I really biffed the box and didnt accelerate smoothly enough through the turn. This time around I got a 96. I supposidly hit a line in the box (I didnt think so) and stopped 1 foot too long. I account the long stop to me going 23 MPH for the stop (almost double the recommended speed of 12-15 MPH).

I have to say that finally the ARMY got it right this time though. All the new riders with 600cc bikes didnt have to just pass the class on a nightster and call it a day, no. If their bike was not there they had to bring it back and pass a slightly more challenging test before getting riding priveleges.

So things I learned this time:

First off I corrected some habits that I "forgot" after my last class, like pulling in the clutch wayyyy too early before stopping, not breaking in a turn (more like judging entry speed better), and ALWAYS looking through and beyond the turn (before I would fixate at the end of the turn (aka last cone in turn) instead of next objective.

I mainly learned how to do everything at quicker and faster speeds (swerving, quick stop, s curve, ect). I also mastered the right angle turn the propper way (aka not looking down)

More importantly the total class just cemented all the skills as well as improved them all while REALLY praticing on MY bike.

I really look forward to the sport bike class now as well as the advanced.

Again I would suggest any one in the same place in riding as me to do the same.

ALSO I found that 2nd gear on the slow manuevers (u turns s curve slow weave ect) is much easier as the throttle is very forgiving almost to the point of stalling

congrats, i was considering taking it again and i think i might after hearing how helpful it is even the second time around.

Hows the air force? i always considered it but idk..

well it isnt for everyone, with that said it is pretty nice. The really big sucky part is if you havea ****** boss you are stuck with him/her. Kinda like I am now only I live in HI so that makes up for it. Does that help??

If you are on a budget I would look into a sportbike/advance MSF course. Me however I dont mind utilizing instructors that get paid if the class is full or if it isnt. I do HAVE to take a track day sport bike class (involves emergency and cornering moves at speeds of 30-60 MPH) and eventually I HAVE to take the Advanced MSF course. This was just a fun way to spend 2.5 days w/o taking leave
