slow return to idle

What's the general consensus on what causes a slow return to idle (10-20 secs)?

May be time to pull the carbs again.

is the throttle itself snapping back to the closed position?

Yes, the mechanical linkage seems normal.

I'm surmising Sunday will be a pull-the-carbs day, and I know I have been needing to do that to do a check out and insure the pilots and everything else is clean and working right. I hate pulling carbs

prolly because I am a turtle slow mechanic.

Lean pilots can cause it but this seems silly slow to return to idle and I am thinking there is something plugged up.

a vacuum leak can also cause this. make sure all vacuum hoses are connected and connected to their correct destinations. things like loose clamps at the carb spigots and airbox can also be sources of air leaks. it may well be your carbs, but then again, maybe not.

Thanks Kelly. I'll pull tupperware tomorrow and see what I can see, but I suspect I will waste (er spend

) most of the day fiddling my way through everything.

I rode it around the block since it has not been exercised in a few weeks (had plenty of stabilizer tho just in case) and found it almost unrideable again. Not my primary rider but someone has check 'em out and see how they are running.

I never did get around to syncing the carbs with a carbtune, so I am suspecting that too may not be correct either. I did not buy this bike new and I am pretty sure the po would not have touched the carbs since it had so few miles.

I need one of these days to find a little aux gas tank bottle on the cheap out of melt free plastic for projects like this.
