Paint prep....

This may be a stupid question, but.... What do I need to do to my plastic parts before primer? Do I sand them at all?
I've never painted plastic before. :P

I'm hoping to get everything primed by the end of this week, so any info on prep would be appreciated greatly.

God bless--Brad

Fill in any deep scratches with filler puty. Sand it smooth with 350 grit then 600 or so, rinse and allow to fully dry.

Anyone know where I can get Rustoleum Metallic fleck paint? I have tried 4 stores and have spent 25 minutes online and haven't found anything...except the gold or silver. I am looking for blue and black(or gray).

On Rust-Oleum's website they show this(http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=511). This is what I want, but I can't find it for sale/order anywhere.

You only needed to sand with really light grit unless you had scratches and stuff. You just wanted the paint to stick. Really you didnt even need primer.

The lighting makes the coloring look different in each shot, but it all came out the same.

Just two pieces left to paint, forks to get finished, and I'll be putting it back together for some real pictures.

Sand, sand, sand.
Fill with bondo if required.
Sand.
Prime.
Sand again.
Prime again.
Sand again.
Paint.
Clear.
Sand.
Buff.
Polish.

Prep is EVERYTHING when it comes to painting. You don't get all that clear off and pussy out on primer and that **** will flake off. If not on its own, the first time that fairing bends a bit too much or a rock hits it.

Of course, it really comes down to how good you're going for. If you don't care about flaking, orange peel, scratches, pooling, etc, then fine. Go on the cheap and lazy.

If you want it to last, prep that noise so hard.
