Calibration
When you "0" a low scale refrigeration gauge, You are adjusting it to standard PSIG (pounds per square inch gauge). This accounts for the more or less 14.7 PSIA (pounds per square in absolute) as differential between the pressure inside the tire and the pressure outside the tire since the pressure reacts equally against the tire and the surface of the bourdon tube.
A low range refrigeration gauge is highly accurate and must be so to be used to figure temperature/pressure differentials in refrigeration. I periodically have mine checked for accuracy against a known standard pressure. To sum it up. If it zeros, and is repeatable, the discrimination is less than 1 psig to mid scale. Well within tire pressure range.

I guess the same can be said about tire pressure gauges. I check my psi once a week normally (usually Saturday morning before my ride). I've been experimenting with psi. I decided to go 32psi front & 36psi rear. I'll slowly work my way down 1 psi per tire to see if there will be any difference I can feel. Here's what I found.
