[visordown.com] - Motorcycle fatalities decrease by 9%

MOTORCYCLE fatalities decreased in 2012 compared to 2011 by 9%.

The figures, just released by the Department for Transport show that there were just 328 fatalities in 2012 compared to 362 in 2011. The number of bikers reported as seriously injured also decreased by 5 per cent to 5,000.

However, it's worth noting that motorcycle traffic reduced by 2% in the same period.

Cycling can't claim the same reduction, with a 10% increase in those killed, up from 107 in 2011 to 118 in 2012. The number of seriously injured has risen by 4% to 3,222. Cycling deaths have continued to rise since 2009.

So what do you think has contributed to the decrease in motorcycling-related fatalities?
