[visordown.com] - Ducati announces record year of sales

Ducati’s Global Sales and Marketing Director, Andrea Buzzoni

DUCATI has just announced that it sold a record 54,800 bikes in 2015 – 9,683 more than in 2015, an increase of 22%.

North America is Ducati’s largest market and expansion in the US throughout 2015 resulted in it increasing sales by 14% compared to 2014.

In Ducati’s homeland, Italian loyalty to arguably its most famous motorcycle marque is sure to have played a part in the massive 53% increase in sales compared to 2014 – making Italy Ducati’s second biggest market.

UK sales increased by 37% over 2014, with sales in Germany up by 24% and by 22% in France.

It’s a similar story in Asia, with 2015 sales up 14% over the previous year. Ducati reports that China was a particularly strong market thanks to a 46% hike in sales.

Results from the past 12 months follow five years of growth for Ducati that’s seen it steadily increase sales and production.

Ducati shifted 16,000 Scramblers during 2015, making the Scrambler family its best-seller. It’s followed by the new Multistrada 1200, with over 8,000 sold. With 6,500 people buying one globally, the Monster 821 was Ducati’s third biggest seller. In order of success, Ducati says it was also good year for the for the 1299 Panigale, 899 Panigale (now replaced by the 959 Panigale) and the Diavel.

Commenting on the past 12 months, Andrea Buzzoni, Ducati’s Global Sales and Marketing Director said:

‘This impressive performance, a landmark one for Ducati, confirms the soundness of the strategy of expansion and consolidation in global markets and highlights the energy and professionalism of the over 700 dealers who cover no less than 90 countries. Such growth confirms, in the vast majority of countries, the validity of both our products and our strategy: indeed, for the first time in Ducati’s history, one of our bikes, the Ducati Scrambler, made it into the ‘Top 10’ list of the world’s best-selling bikes.’
