Ninjette.org Decal Contest! (Official Entry Thread)

Hi all!

Thx to some hard work already by some forum members, we are now ready to have our very own decal contest! At the end of this contest, a winner will be chosen by a popular vote. The winning decal will be then produced and offered up for sale to all of us. The designer of the winning decal will pick up a couple things. First, 5 decals of their winning design. Next, $50 store credit at the ninjette.org store. And last but not least, immortality on this forum by having "Decal Champion!" or something similar show up near their avatar in all of their posts.

To enter, post up a high-res version of your entry right into this thread. No matter what size you want the decal to be, make the entry here as large as feasible, so if there needs to be any conversions later no detail will be lost. If you have it in .ai or .eps files, life is good, but if you have it in .bmp, or even .gif or .jpg, please still post it up if it's worthy and someone here will find a way to convert it as necessary.

Put a recommended size for your decal so people have an idea of what you're thinking. "4 inches by 2 inches". "3 inches round". Etc.

If you feel it matters to appreciate your design, list up the color(s) you think the decal should be made in. Single colors are the most likely to be able to be produced; multi-colors on one decal may not be feasible.

Keep in mind that the winning decal doesn't necessarily have to have the entire "ninjette.org" spelled out in it. It very well may, but it certainly isn't a contest requirement. Also, people are free to submit as many different entries as they want. (Different colors of the same entry don't count as seperate entries! )

This portion of the contest will be ongoing for the next 30 days, and will close at midnight on August 13th. At that point the top finalists (probably 10, but I reserve the right for that # to be larger or smaller depending on entries ) will be loaded into a poll thread for voting. The only posts in this thread should be entries themselves. Any questions or other non-entry posts will be moved into the decal discussion thread right over here.

- Alex

My submission. I got rid of some of the black and sized down for your viewing. (download .eps for full thing)

Size: 4x2in can changed to any size within scale but 4x2 size uploaded.
Colors: Can be changed to black text with clear background. Would need a different version for black bikes though (black text with white outline with clear background, or the original)

here are my first two entries, I'm sure I'll come up with more - they can be printed on any color you like, with the background clear... my thought was about 4 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall - they can easily be scaled down

I'm not good with photos so I don't know what size is the best. But this is what I came up with. Black/green with a white or clear background.

And the fonts my default font - mistral. So I didn't intend to jack it from nick, however similar they are

Haven't vectored it, will do if anyone likes it. The idea is that you could print it either in white or black and the color of your bike (or whatever else you put the decal on) shows through to fill the "ninjette" font color (I may have been biased in choosing the example color). Size is probably not more than three or four inches wide.

Could even use it as a bit of a makeshift tank guard!

Another idea, this one much simpler. Basically a take on the city abbreviation stickers that are all the rage these days--"SLO" for San Luis Obispo, "SJ" for San Jose, and "250" for, uh, 250. This would be printed only as the oval (no blue background) however large these stickers usually are.

All could be 3x5 sized, or I can redo them into larger/smaller/oval formats.

May need some touch up work but ok. Does not include the watermark (obviously).

Black and white:

black white and green:

black white and red:

black white and blue:

12x4 seems to be a good size for it.
As you can see any color can be incorporated although green seems to be the most appropriate.

Images may not be used or reproduced without my permission, thanks.

BTW if you need larger sizes and or different file types just contact me I will provide them if they are needed

I envisioned the red one as a longer skinny sticker that you could put on the side of the tail of the bike.
The others could be smushed into a 3X5 Cafepress size, or another size for helmets, etc.
Colors are totally flexible as well.
This is my stuff, don't steal it and say it's yours. But do enjoy it!

wow it's late. I'm going to bed.
More Ninja Green fun. And it can change colors as needed.
Used a different font and approach.
Oh yeah, undertail job on the 08 silhouette. Every Ninja needs a tush job.

I just made these up quick in MSPaint, so I don't know if I would go with the font I used, but I just wanted to throw them out there. (they would all just be the letters - no black background on the white ones, just needed something so the white letters didn't blend in)

Very easy to cut - very easy to swap the R for a different color to give it some pop - I'd personally size it to fit in a standard letter size envelope, so no more than about 8-9 inches wide and about 1-2 inches high, so it was easy and cost effective to ship out.

Here's the same logo as above, but the letters completely outlined, also other colors can be incorporated like the ones above. May be harder to have made, but certainly looks more interesting.

12x4 would be a good size or any size within that proportion.

As before the image(s) may not be used or reproduced without my permission, thanks.

Sorry I didn't get this up here sooner. (thanks for reminding me, Verus Cidere!)
I've attached my original .ai file as well as a .jpg preview of two different colors. It can be any color available from the printer, and it's designed to be printed on a transparent background.
It's a little more conservative than the other designs.

Edit:
Oh, right, size. I was thinking something relatively small, maybe 2x6 or whatever closest rectangular size the printer has.

This one is a bit simpler and made to be smaller:

Also in bumper sticker form:

Any color can be incorporated into this one, this is my 3rd submission.

1x4 works or maybe 2x8??

Other resolutions and file types are available upon request

back when i owned a 911, i spent alot of time on the pelicanbbs website, where they had a badge contest to make badges for forum members to stick on their car. what made it cool was that in order to know what it was you had to be a part of the forum. for the end result, it didn't say pelicanbbs anywhere on the badge. it was a gear, with a pelican in the center. i think it'd be cool if we did something similar where the web address or site name is left out of the decal, but something that when you see it, you'll know its a forum member. like a silhouette of a cartoon ninja riding an f-16 like a crotch rocket or something silly.

^^ I really like the headlights one. Definitely could see that on my bike, the black looks really good on the green. I wonder how it would look in silver on the '09 blue (all the factory decals are silver).

I also like the idea of the pelicanbbs decal, maybe we could do the headlights without anything in the center or think up another symbol to put in the middle.

Hey guys, I think this would be a cool idea! I saw a few dead threads and odds and ends about this, but if you guys are still accepting submissions, I took a stab at it with something simple.

I borrowed the bike outline from nickds7. If you have an objection let me know and I'll take it down.
