1997 Yamaha Seca II 600
Well I did it. I found one not too far away and picked it up Jan 20th. It's a 1997 model (actually says built 10/96 on the frame sticker but titled as a 97). Here's the picture of it on the trailer, on the way home.
It's got 13k miles, fairly new tires, a clean gas tank, a vance & hines exhaust system, and small aftermarket turn signals. The exhaust doesn't sound too bad at idle but I don't have my bikes at idle much, so I'll be replacing it with a factory system asap, so I'll be able to change the oil a lot easier and put on a center stand. I'll also be putting on the factory turn signals too as the current ones are small smoked amber in color and aren't very bright. It may need a new chain & sprockets too, have to see how that one works after oiling and adjusting. Thanks, Tony

So far so good. I've got it running, takes a little while to warm up especially in this cold weather. However I haven't got to ride it yet, due to turn signal's not working (bad aftermarket signal bulbs), very loose chain (going to try oiling and adjusting before I replace it), etc. I'm still riding my Ninja 250, figure I'd get the Seca up and running good before I move over the license plate and put the Ninja up for sale. So far this site has the most info/help on the Seca's.
Thanks, Tony

Congrats on the new bike, but don't be so quick to move on there! I owned a '81 SECA 550 (1st gen) back in the day, and every time I see your Avatar I think of my old white/red '87 750 Ninja...that I liked a lot... |

The Seca is a reliable, solid bike, cheap to maintain and own- but ya gotta keep the Ninja!
