Volkswagon Motorcycle

It’s been almost two months since Volkswagen bought a 20% stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation, but that hasn’t stopped German designer Nils Poschwatta from imagining what the peoples’ motorcycle would look like.

I like it except for the tail. That thing looks terrible. It'd also be really uncomfortable for the passenger.

As far as the concept goes it looks good. I wonder if this is the begining of the European manufacturers taking over the Japanese sport bike market. I say the more competition the better.

Suzuki make cars. The Suzuki swift that looks like a Jap version of the mini cooper has been selling like hotcakes in europe. I think that is where VW's interest lies. Unless they are jealous of BMW's motorbike division.

Anyway with the way the VW-Audi-Porsche-SEAT-Skoda group is set up, they seem to share parts/platforms to keep costs down but not much else. I would not be surprised if the swift platform was used to make a new VW polo, or Audi A2 or Seat Ibiza or Skoda Fabia. Or even cheaper to redesign the swift to use a polo platform. Can't see much sharing going on when it comes to bike technology. Not that we want one of the VW-Audi-Porsche-SEAT-Skoda group to build a bike.

Can you imagine a Porsche sport bike, probably back to the bad old days of the engine on the handlebars driving the front wheel.

My 2004 (B6) Audi S4 has had two $3,500 repairs in less than a year (Cam chain tension on one bank and then the other). Needless to say I am not fond of VAG, and do not think much of their reliability. Nice to drive though...

They could hand it over to the Bugatti division in which case it will make 300 horsepower and cost $250,000.00.

Karl, Harley-Davidson`s V-Rod has a Porsche designed engine. It is interesting that this group would want to get into motorbikes. The VW part surprises me since Skoda used to make some fine motorcycles--JAWA and CZ.

Here's a concept from a few years back:

I'm still hoping we get this one:

But I'm sure we'll just end up with this:

^^^ Yea but it has four wheels so it can't be classified as a motorcycle. Trikes are still considered motorcycles.
