Smile New Biker in the Family

Hello!
I am from Cochrane, AB. My girlfriend has decided to get into motorcycling and has bought herself a 2012 Ninja 250R. She got an amazing deal on it, and barring a few replacement parts (Clutch cable, levers, shifter) and a set of lowering links, both her and the bike are ready to go!
I'm sure she will introduce herself on this page soon enough, but I'm bursting with excitement for her and couldn't wait to tell the ninja250 community!
I've ridden for 7 years now, and currently own a 2004 VFR00 Interceptor. Previously I owned a Suzuki GS500F which met an untimely demise... RIP Flick.
I love to head out on the twisties through the rockies and have a particular fondness for surprising the 600 supersports on a "touring" bike

Once my gf gets trained up, we will be out riding together all the time. We hope to see you out there and look forward to meeting more members of the riding community!

My daughter can barely handle the height of the '05 250 I have, but I wouldn't consider lowering it because she occasionally scrapes the peg feelers, even after stiffening up the front and rear suspension. You might consider trying it as-is before lowering it.

We went out for a little while, but unfortunately she can barely tip toe it with the bike standing even after adjusting the suspension for her. we'll give it a try for a while to build her skill and confidence. As time goes by we may switch back to the stock links.

Welcome!

Your girlfriend may find some help in putting lifts on her boots to help "reach" a bit better. There are a couple women in the club my hubby and I belong to who do that.

I will mention that to here, thanks! Some Vortex lowering links just arrived, so we'll give those a whirl and see how it goes. She may still need some risers

My daughter is 5'1" tall.

On her 1989 Ninja 250 she felt like it was too tall when she first got it, because she was on tippy toes at ever stop. So I put in lowering links. That got her flat foot, but she was scraping the center stand in corners. Which made her feel more uncomfortable.

We sold the bike, with the lowering links installed, to a short friend. She has been happy with it so far. (her 6'2 275 lb husband hates it)

My daughters new bike is a Harley Sportster with the normal or tall shocks on it. She is still on tip toes, but she won't let me lower it.

I'm all for using lowering kits to give a new rider the confident feeling of being flat footed at a stop, but I think like training wheels on a bicycle the lowering links should also be removed as the riders confidence grows.
