Even if you don't like it, it will help competition, Maybe reduce prices of other entry level cars like the civic and corolla.

I have been following these for a bit and like em. More options are good for the consumer and helps push industry.

Sounds like they're about $150 million away from being able to produce it. I seriously doubt that they'll get enough investors by next year to cover that cost.
you should see the numbers these ****ing investment houses throw around like they're accidentally forgetting there are so many zeros after the number. it makes normal business outside of the money-industry look like a joke. they could make 150m in an hour with the right connections.

Yeah, it seems like a great compromise... sure it isn't very fast at all... The speedo only went to 85 in the prototype, however the company claims 100. Someone said 0-60 was 9.6 seconds not sure how reliable the sources are... Not terribly slow though, and I like the idea of only one seat. The mpg is a nice factor too

The Elio offers a lot at a very low price. I wish I could believe that this vehicle will come to the marketplace but unfortunately it looks like another sales job to get investors' money and buyer's deposits and then go belly up without ever delivering a product to buyers.

What Elio claims as far as performance is definitely doable but I don't see how they could make enough money to build the cars and sustain their company. Tesla has been successful but look at the prices of their products.
It just sounds like more DeLorean style snakeoil to me.

Ah, let's hope not... They have already delayed it once though, so who knows.. hopefully you're wrong

I mean, I would still be a buyer at 10k to be honest.. Those stupid little smart cars go for 13k

Of course there's people out there with that kind of money. Never said there wasn't. Tesla became successful because they sell a high end luxury sports car that happens to be electric.

How many of these rich investors are gonna be interested in an enclosed three wheeled motorcycle with a geo metro engine in it?

I would love to have one. I would not buy it new. You know ,four years old 50,000 miles. Needs tires. I would still pay 3500 for it. Maybe remove the rear seat. So my big dog could ride in the back. I wish it had a rear window. No electric for me. I would want an engine.

It appears Elio is going to get a 185 million dollar federal loan!

All smoke and mirrors until they are rolling out the showroom doors. If it ever does get going I'm sure to seriously consider one but it looks like a won't have to worry about for a least two more years. The Facebook comments on their posts are comedy good.

I agree, and to be honest. In the next 2 years i'll probably have a decent car which means i won't even waste my time with the Elio. Only reason why it's appealing to me is because of the $7,000 price tag and a possibly high mpg replacement for my 200k miled 12 year old car. Which, like I said, will most likely be replaced within the next 1-3 years.

Going to check the facebook page now, still interested in this product.

Almost two years later, this ^^^ is still completely true. Not to bash Elio, but it seems as though they've been making promises they've not been able to make good on.

But progress is being made. They have drivable things. And a motor.

I'm still watching with curiousity. I think this could be a fun little thing whenever they get around to actually being successful.

At the very least I do kind of enjoy the comments people leave on their FB page. I seem to recall an overpriced helmet maker promising yet to be seen futuristic features finally going belly up after 2 years of smoke and mirrors all the while collecting large deposits.

I'm on the list to get one, although I only put up $100 to get there. That was at least 2 years ago, I'm still waiting. I'd really like to see Eliot go to production, but not bad enough to put the full $1,000 up front to get a numbered spot in line.

Go f***ing figure, they're going broke! I still think these things would be sick!!! But the company blows and has been giving us nothing but lip service for years. I stopped by their booth at the Detroit Auto Show the last two years and it's been the same dog and pony show and the same physical cars sitting there.

What a joke. I almost feel bad for the people who paid to be in line for a product and now aren't going to get anything for it. If Elio somehow is able to turn it around, I'll gladly still take one for a test drive and I'd love to own one. I doubt I'll ever see that happen.

Only thing that company produced was funny comments on their FB page by way of its visitors :lol the naïveté of the people who reserved was epic.
