My bike kept sputtering, exhaust made a popping sound, first gear barely moves?
Ok so today was fourth time taking my starter bike out ( I took the safety class FYI )
n my gear seemed all screwed up. The bike is idling right between 1-2 where it should be but in first at a red light it died on me n then going up a hill bike kinda sputtered exhaust made a loud pop n it died again. Any ideas? I'm obviously a new rider so maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Bike ran beautifully past 3 days . I also have replaced plugs n added oil in last 3 days. Well if any of u vets has any pointers or advice I'd absolutly love to hear it. Im thinking you arent getting it reved up enough or are selecting the wrong gear. The ninja 250r has to be above 4 grand in RPM's to actually do anything. Pick the right gear, and keep the revs up and it should run fine.

The bike ran fine after you changed the plugs? or was this the first time you rode it after changing them?

Ok first off thanks for replying to my post I actually added oil and changed plugs 3 days ago exactly. before that the bike wouldn't start at all.before leaving my house I started up my bike n noticed oil light is on so Ima go home in 30 min n see if that is the problem I'll let u guys know thanks again always very greatfull for all n any advice you guys give me

The bike is properly warmed up right? I know its gotten colder in the past week here on the east coast, and Ive had to warm my bike up longer lately or it will run like crap/stall...
