Battery charger?

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...r-Charger.aspx

Is a battery charger a must have for my 07 ninja 250? The bike will be for good weather weekends.

Makes starting the bike a "sure thing" for those nice weekends - hate to want to ride and find problems instead. Or, just ride the bike around the block every couple of weeks regardless of the weather.

Not a MUST have but it's good to have. I ended up buying mine because i left the keys on my bike in the ON position and had to charge the battery which would've cost me something or other at the local dealership. So, instead I got this:

http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SE-...dp/B0000AXTUY/

it's pretty small. you can prolly install it on the bike if you move some wires around, cut up some plastic dividers.

It's automatic too so it shuts off after the battery has reached it's full charge. The BatteryTender JR is not. But the regular Battery tender is. But it is also bigger than the Shumaucher.

I have been using the Sears Battery Charger/Maintainer for two years. It comes with all the wiring--Plus and minus to the battery with an SAE plug on the end--can be used with a smal compressor, etc. Fully automatic. Plug it in and leave it. As good, IMHO, as Battery Tender at half the price. Check it out.

If your to the point where your bike is sitting enough to need a battery charger, you might as well add Sta-Bil to your fuel too

I got one of the battery tender jr.s from the motorcycle superstore. I love it. I wired the quick disconnect to my bike and routed thru one of the holes in the frame so that when I remove the dustcover the plug pops out. When i disconnect the charger I just place the dustcover back. When my bike is totally charged I use it on my car or even lawn mower.

Or you move to Texas where you ride year round!

hahahaha

Honestly I'm glad I don't need to worry about those things. If I start having problems, then they are legitimate problems. I am planning on taking my bike to work every day this winter when it isn't raining or ice covering the roads.

I plugged the charger in today. The weather has been some spiteful here lately--not good for motorcycling. May as well keep the battery charged since they don't do kickstarters anymore.
