Are we all, just too smart?

With gas on the way to $4.00 a gallon again. Im so happy I have a "little" 250 to get around on. 50+ mpg (if your nice) Great looks, great performance, great bang for your buck. Who wants a crappy moped anyway??
Guess were all just too smart.

Actually, part of the reason I decided to get a motorcycle when I did was so that I could get in on this before all of those eco-conscious hipsters flooded the market, causing the prices of used motorcycles to skyrocket.

Little did I know that they would create an entire market full of three-wheeled scooters. Oh well....

We were talking about this at lunch on Sunday. I know my truck will be parked for most of spring and summer for sure!

Get another bike to trackride keep the 250 for a commuter. (if you can)
If you look, you might find a deal. I bought a beat up FZ6 with low miles and it has become my FuglyFZ trackbike. I had to put the ninjettes headlight, tail light, and turn signals back on and now I commute with her. Saves me money and makes me smile. (no I didnt put the mirrors back on I would rather look)

Ive only put 3100 miles on my truck in the past 2 years.
It pulls the trailer to trackdays and gets me thru the deep snow and thats it. 12 MPG isnt friendly on the wallet as an everyday thing. Ill ride the 250 from mid March till late October early Nov. For everything else theres the Cobalt SS.
God do I miss the days of $1 a gallon gas. I feel sorry for my teenaged kids. (All teenaged kids) They say Im making it up when I say I bought gas for .79 a gallon when I was the same age.
Thats was way back when we dropped bombs in the middle east and then we got some respect at the pump. You know the saying "You scratch my back, I scratch yours."
Look how far we have come in 25 years.
Now we do........ and ask for, or get nothing in return.

Sorry, didnt mean to go political, back to how smart we all are.

Agreed, I believe the 250 is pretty smart... cheap on gas (I'm more around 60mpg), cheap on insurance (full coverage 275/year), looks great and is fun-fun-fun to ride... WIN-WIN!

I have been thinking of what a greay buy my Ninjas have been. I ride as often as possible when weather permits. It is much easier to find parking at school and the mileage is awesome! Even with all the performance mods, we still get better MPG numbers than almost all bigger bikes! I have found myself plenty of times riding from Lexington to the Red River Gorge and 600cc+ bikes have to refuel before I even reach half a tank, most of the time! Gas prices are freakin' horrible! I went last night and put gas in my girlfriend's car. Today I went to the same store for my own car, and the price jumped 15 cents! I remember saying "Holy ****!" out loud, and the cat beside me filling up his car gave me a funny look. I sometimes wish to move up to a ZX-6R, but then I do realize there is an higher fuel cost that will now be associated with owning bigger bikes.

@ KawiRider - plus the difference in insurance, for me (36), the 600+cc "sport" class is still a lot with a clean record & no insurance points.

I don't know if I save on gas, because now that I have my bike, I find myself doing a lot of unnecessary ridding around...I'm burning a tank a weekend just for fun...

I agree with all these points! The 250 is the perfect bike for the street, IMO. Plenty of power to do what needs doing, AND have fun while doing it. Cheap on everything, gas, tires, insurance, maintenance, etc. Would like more power? Just a tad. Am I willing to pay more for it? Nope, not at the going rate.

Kevin, I'm going to say we're not only smart, we're also secure. *High five*

I have 3 bikes (1100, 1300, 250) and a Toyota truck. The 250 is my favorite commuter of choice and it's my most used vehicle. I get right at 60MPG commuting in city traffic. It's a fun bike, great brakes, good shocks, sweet cornering, good looks. Who could ask for more. Bill
