Instrument Panel - Rattle
My gauges seem to be rattling a wholeeee lot (pregen btw) Out of curiosity, what exactly do they attach to, and how? Is it possible to tighten whatever that is? Sorry, I haven't had my ninjette long, and haven't taken the time to take the thing into pieces yet!

No idea, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly. Might be useful to look at a parts diagram for the bike. Here's a link on bikebandit that has the full microfiche:

Kinda curious about this one myself tbh. My bike (around that area) starts to rattle really loud at about 8-10k RPM too. It's like a high pitched metal rattle, but I always check for loose stuff, and can never find anything. Thanks in advance to anyone who might know where to look.

1st culprit is often the clutch lever.

thanks Alex. I'll check there, but I recently changed my levers, and I tightened everything (what I though was) really good. I'll def double check.

There are three bolts that go through rubber bushings, they hold the cluster to the upper fairing stay. The only way to access them is to pull the upper fairing.

I second both the clutch lever and taking off the fairing. once You get off the fairing, it'll be blaringly obvious how it's attached. just a few bolts

It is also likely that the fairing stay itself has broken where it mounts to the frame. There are two little arms at the bottom that like to crack and break. Those will require welding to the stay or a replacement of the stay. If it is the plastic towers on the back of the instrument cluster, I use a 5 minute epoxy to repair them... First application of the epoxy is right to the crack/break. after that cures... the second application of epoxy is a thick surrounding of the cracked/repaired area. -=PO |
