Got fuel? In the exhaust pipes?
I do. But not the crankcase! How is that possible.
Petcocks good, I have the floats set at 20- 21mm.BUT... no fuel filter.so I get it. Googling the prob. Seems there's a lot of it happening but dumb a's are you sure it's gas, not condensate, bad petcock,. I see it's a common problem and explains a lot of other ones I've been having. Why isn't the crankcase full? Is there another explanation besides floats? It's hard to start, dies at stop signs etc. Last futzed with by Larbronson; February 26th, 2018 at 08:30 PM. Do you have a cylinder that isn't firing right? That would explain all the symptoms you've listed. Been there, done that. Check the plugs/leads/coils for signs that one cylinder might be failing to fire reliably (charred leads, etc).
Why do you assume that the case would have to be full of fuel for there to be fuel in the exhaust pipe? Are you sure it's fuel in the pipe as opposed to oil? |

Yeah, fuel not igniting would go out exhaust-valve into exhaust pipe...

Hey guys thanks for the replies.
Definitely gas, I left the fuel cock on while I was at work. I checked my gas level before I left the house to work and had half a tank. After work , it had a little puddle when I went to start it, that's kinda normal (I'll explain later). But I did my normal hard to start routine...... bike didn't even attempt to fire. I look down and there's a gas puddle past my rear tire And fuel pouring out underneath my foot pegs.so naturally I think it's the overflow tube so I shut the petcock off. Wait a few minutes and the puddle was bigger and fuel is still pouring down. I pull the overflow tube and it's dry , look way underneath and fuel was coming out where the muffler is clamped to the header on the right side and just before the muffler on the left. Look inside my tank and it was almost dry. ( live 3.6 miles from work)..... So MAYBEEEE.....my overflow PORT is plugged, floats stuck and, vacuum line to petcock pinched and fuel filled the cylinder for 8 hours. When I went to start it pushed all the fuel out of the cylinders into the exhaust. And have excellent oil rings because I only have oil in my crankcase no gas. This is the first set of the vacuum carbs I've worked on so I didn't open the top or side vac says. Just jets an floats. Covers, not says.

Bike runs smooth to 5000 rpm. 5 to 9 sputters, 9 to 13 pulling wheelies in 3rd gear.

FYI: no need to turn off the petcock on a daily if it works. It's vacuum operated, not manual.
Sounds like you have more going on than you originally let on. |

Right? But that's only on the 2017-19 at least that's what I noticed on Google, earliest post I found was 2009 on a 2007. About 2 year old bikes start having pcock problems.
I think the fuel may be seeping (pouring) from the main jet needles.looking at the slant of the carbs., and the way the overflow tube is routed higher than the venturi may be most of the problems. I'd like to see what Ducatiman has to say.?? |

I thought the gas leak and puddle I mentioned earlier was do to the guy I bought it from put the wrong bolts in the upper fairing to tank mounts and punctured through.
