Thats the gay part, these fairings are the ****** ones off of ebay and the color isn't a perfect match to the OEM green of the gastank. Are there companies that you can send in a paint chip or something and they can match the color and get you the touch up pen?

Color Rite has the actual factory paint, but if you want to paint the tank to match the fairings, you will have to do it the other way.

Hes in Canada, so will have to use dpars.com besides they are the canadian supplier for ColorRite (notice the direct link when you click "Canadian Customers" on the ColorRite site.) I have ordered from them before, pretty good service, and they ship the next day.

GO to your closest NAPA-CMAX with a the fairing you need a color match from they will scan the colors with their uber duber duber lazer color match system and reproduce a nice match.

You got this right. I didnt know that and used Nu-Finish on the texted black section of the bike and it turned white... could not get it off... turned out ArmorAll wipes turned it black again... I hope the side effects of armor all wont mess it up but its the only thing so far that was able to restore the original jet-black color.

NuFinish worked for the shiny plastics for me though. Btw, I also used Mr. Clean's funky looking spray gun thingy after because it has that filter that makes the water demineralized. Leaves no spots at all... just in case I cant dry it all with the towels.

Bikes are designed to be fine in the rain. Washing them with a hose is fine.

Soap, water & microfibre then i hit it with "Turtle Black Box"
3 part system consists of cleaner, wax & detailer, takes a good afternoon to complete but for black paint the outcome is gorgeous!

I use a waterless car wash soap on the painted surfaces. It's quick, works well, and leaves a nice shine. If the underside is dirty enough then I'll use a hose.

I use this cleaning/wax spray that I bought at a gas station. Darn it, I can't remember the name of it. But you spray it on, wipe it with whichever rag you want, and then buff it with a microfiber cloth. Leaves my pearl-black bike shining and gorgeous.

No water needed, and it takes about 15 minutes to do the whole thing.

The same brand also has an upholstery cleaner (the guy who sold it to me said Armor-All sucks on porous surfaces and dries out the material), which I use on the seat.

Looks like show-room quality.

Darn it, can't remember the brand! I will post a picture later on of the bottles I use.

when it's warmer out I'll get my swimsuit on and head to the car wash, it's fun to ride through those things from time to time. naturally I take my helmet, shoes, vest & gloves off before I get soaked. At some point I hope to have video of this but I don't have a camera just yet. when it's chillier I just use soap & water and clean the chain w/simple green degreaser a rag and some wd40 (I'm looking into better chain lubes than wd40 but it's what I've had on hand every time I clean it)
in the winter I just go "f*ck it" and wash it once a month or so just to get rid of the salt layers while cleaning the chain 2-4x as often.

I admit, I do need to get an action camera like a drift or a gopro. I've done it twice at the same car wash on separate dares, The dares were actually just for the bike to go through but I don't trust that **** so I went with it.

I wouldn't trust it either, nor would I probly go through the car wash, but some think I did worse things though

That's classified information.

Ever climbed to the top of the barracks on a drain pipe?

Ever pick a dude up with a crane while someone squirted him with a water hose, (I'm glad he held on) we were off the clock.

not a barracks but I have climbed on top of all three restaurants that I have worked at via a similar method. Straight up some bricks with the first, up a ladder on a nearby building then jump over for the second, then up a chain link fence onto a giant crate (think the kind that 18-wheeled trucks transport) and jump up the rest of the way for the third.

well most items have been covered.

- don't use armorall ever, car, bike, house, cat, etc. it belongs in the trash.
- when waxing, use painters tape to avoid getting wax onto un-painted plastics. the 5 mins this takes will save hours of headaches.
- Always use car/motorcycle specific washes. Others will strip wax, oils, grease, etc from your bike.
- If it seems too easy, it probably is damaging things, or doesn't work.

Claybar will help remove additional surface contaminants that washing didn't remove, and polish will get even more, and also help with micro-scratches that dull the finish. Just don't polish too often.

Wax is great. Personally, I prefer synthetic waxes like Maguires neXt 2.0. They don't provide the best protection, but they do a good job, and last a lot longer.

to protect un-painted plastics... I use black wow.

I also like synthetic wax... goes on smooth, buffs out easy. I use Mother's and finds it actually lasts quite a bit and doesn't stain plastic trim like regular wax.

I use this wax as you wash detailing spray. with a nice microfiber towl ... good for light dust and stuff ... makes it shine.

then for the serious wash.... go all the way
auto wash soap , and real wax... plus elbow grease
