There was a tornado warning, but I never heard there was actually a tornado.

Mostly lots of rain (lottsa, lottsa of rain ), wind and lightning and thunder. Heard you guys had the same over on Oahu and suffered flooding, just like parts of our island. It helps that we've not paved over all the ground, so the water actually has somewhere to go, unlike there.

I'm fortunate my house is nowhere near a flood zone or an area prone to flooding, so the most that happens is the plants and trees get a good watering.

Thanks for the concern, though. How did you do?

OK

We did ok, my daughter was out of school because the area around her school was flooded, the road leading to HMR, the base we live on, was flooded at one point and only higher vehicles could get in or out. The North Shore area got hit rather hard, lot of homes go flooded, some losing everything. The PX on Schofield was flooded and is still closed for repairs. And the roads, OMG, it seems there is a big time increase in pot holes, that rain really trashed the roads. But I do see what you are talking about the paving, we live in the middle of what used to be pineapple fields. I am sitting here watching the news/weather and it looks we are still in for it.

HMR= Helemano? If so, I used to ride dirt bikes in the back roads around there.

We rode from there to Pupukea and back... very neat road if they haven't locked everything up.

Yep, raining pretty good on Kauai right now, too.

Yep, you got it, Helemano. One of the guys I work with grew up here. According to him, it has changed a lot. There is a fence around it and he said that there is a waterfall that could be reached by a nice walk from here. The road to Pupukea, (the one that comes out above North Shore, around sharks cove?) has been under construction for a while now and has been behind a gate since I got here, in Apr '06. There is one of the military training areas that is open on weekends for off road fun.

And its been raining off and on all day.

No, I don't work at either the Navy area or Intelsat, where I would love to work. It isn't too far away and the opposite direction of the rush hour traffic.
Plus it is close to the good surf areas, so you might get in a good wave or two after work.
