Rear sets and clip ons
So I'm thinking about getting the woodcraft rear sets and clip ons for my 250r. However I'm a little worried about being able to fit on the bike after the install. I read that the clip ons will actually give me more room, and even make the bike more comfortable for me (I'm 6'4" 200lbs) but I have a feeling the rear sets might bring my legs up too high or bend my legs too much and make the bike unbearable to sit on. Thoughts?

I have clip-ons and rearset adjusters (not true rearsets). I'm also short, at 5'7".
However, I might be able to offer some insight. The biggest issue you might run into IMHO is your knees. Depending on your proportions, your knees my wind up hitting the sides of the tank where it flares out. I wouldn't worry about sitting comfort. The combined effect of rearsets and clip-ons is to rotate your whole body (including your pelvis) forward, so you're really not sitting on your butt as much. I can literally slide a hand under my butt when I'm on the bike if I want to. You can kind-of-sort-of simulate what the riding position feels like by perching on the edge of your chair. Scoot forward and put your feet under the chair. See how the weight comes off your butt and is more on your thighs? It's like that. You can also kind-of-sort-of simulate the leg and foot position of rearsets by putting the tips of your toes on your stock pegs. That is not too far off of the position you'll get with rearsets. Yes, clip-ons do increase the reach to the bars, giving you more room in the cockpit. |
