Bridgestone BT 92?
Here in Bali i am limited in tyre choices, but i want to go 140 rear 120 front,so far i have found either BT 45 or BT 92.
Used the search function & found nothing so am wondering if anyone has used this tyre ? Is it an old model or something ? My miles are mostly commuting with the occasional weekend blast. I know 150 will fit on the rear but after going up 2 sizes on the Bandit it really affected the handling in a negative way. Cheers, matt |

Well since no one's responding, I'll go ahead and give you my input on both tires. I've personally never ridden on either though so I may not be the source of input you're looking for. It looks like both have dual tread compound (in the rear at least, unsure about the front tire of the 45, but the 92's for sure don't have dual tread compound in the front) but this is a plus in my book. Here are the websites I checked out regarding your tire choices, you may have to translate the first two since they're in Indonesian, but according to their poll, it's obvious people prefer the 92 over the 45.
http://cyber-ninja250r.darkbb.com/t5106-bt45-vs-bt92 http://cyber-ninja250r.darkbb.com/t3513-bt-92-vs-bt-45 http://www.motorcycle-karttires.com/...D=3&LookupID=8 http://www.bridgestone.com/products/...tlax/bt92.html I'll be looking forward to see how your bike handles with a 120 on the front, I had a 150/120 BT 003RS combo on mine when I bought her, and on the tire change I went to a 140/110 BT 003RS. I had problems with the 120 front tire slipping while cornering. I didn't really notice too much of a difference with the change in the rear tires though, most of the "difference" was just in my confidence level knowing that I had the right tire for my rim size. Where abouts in Bali are you? Checking into motorcycle shop websites on the island trying to see if I can find another option for ya while I've got some free time today. I'd hate to give you a list on the other side of the island or something lol. That's assuming I can find anything at all.

Thats very interesting info, thanks for the links & will get some translations.
I am yet to meet anyone who has the BT 92 installed, all the guys i know run the 45. What was the effect of changing to 110 /140 setup? The BT 92 ar slightly more expensive which doesn't mean a better tyre, all very confusing especially with such a limited choice here. Seems the Bt 45 is radial & BT 92 bias ply, radials flex & give more grip correct. A lot more to do before shelling out 300 on tires. |

Mostly the difference in the change to the 110/140 set up was added confidence on my part. I also haven't had any slippage with the front tire under the same circumstances that I had the 120 slip under which makes me happier (the 120 used to slip under hard turning at low speeds, like when running in circles and progressively going faster while keeping the same radius). Under normal handling I honestly don't notice any difference, even under the strain of tearing up twisties.
It does look like radials tend to give better grip performance than bias ply though.

as far as I know, the BT45 is not radial. The BT45's on my bike say BiasPly. That's also what bridgestone's site says
you're backwards. The BT45 is BiasPly, and the BT92 is radial. |

I love my BT-016s in 110/150. I've been thru 2 sets over the summer, and they'll be the tires I buy to replace the worn out ones.
Bike handles just fine. |
