Brake pedal pics needed

Hey Yall, Need a clear pic of how the brake light switch sits on the pedal mount thing. I have it just sitting on the mount but the brake switch will only work if I have it turned in the right direction, but when I ride is twists a little and then doesn't work anymore. Thinking that I didn't put it back together the way it is supposed to be

Rob,
I don't have my bike with me today so can't take a pic, but if you look at the DIY section of the forum there are a couple rear set installation DIY's. One of those might give a close enough pic of the switch/pedal to put you right.

I did a search and didn't really see anything that showed exactly how it sits. I'll check the DIY section, but most of the pics I've seen haven't been clear enough to show if the rounded section of the switch (with the nut attached) sits inside the bracket or just on top of

Cool thanks. We have been above zero all week, the majority of the snow is gone, there were tons of bikes out this weekend....and I need to get mine together and safetied still, with my luck I'll get it together and safetied in time for the last snow fall in April (with any luck we won't get that though)

Thanks for the pics Kim,

Was outside playing around with my bike. I guess the problem isn't how the switch sits (I don't think at least). It seems like every so often the brake light gets left on, and if I pull up on the pedal it goes off. I couldn't replicate the issue. No matter if I push hard or soft every so often it just stays on....might need to make an adjustment somewhere or I'm missing a spring which returns the pedal (the spring for the switch is there)

the plastic nut is used to adjust the switch on/off trigger point. try playing with it to see if you can use it to adjust the switch for proper operation.

Thanks Kelly, that's going to be another job for another day. So do I want to raise the nut or lower it?? I'm thinking that I need to lower it so that there is more pressure on the spring, probably start with only 1/2 turns so I don't go too far right?

tighten the nut so the brake light comes on even without pressing the brake pedal, then back it off so it just goes off. should take you 2 minutes to adjust, if that long.

Same problem, but my light just stays on 24/7. Tried adjusting the nut in many ways but still have the same problem. I can manually (push the needle up) stop the brake light from going on, but when I let go it comes back on.

I'm probably just adjusting it wrong .. but its a PIA. Any suggested much appreciated.

when you turn the nut, is it actually threading up and down the body of the adjuster to vary the length?

Yes it does, I've compared my setting to yours provided in that photo album, I tried to get it exactly the same for comparison sake but when I did I couldn't even manually turn off the brake light. So i adjusted it so that the top of the body adjuster has no thread at all that way I can manually turn off/on the brake light my playing with the needle.

I'll take a closer look at mine tomorrow and try to figure out what your problem could be. If I forget, please remind me.

Don't worry about it mate, just figured out what was my problem. Nothing to do with the adjustment screw nor nut. The problem was when I replaced my rearset I did not install the springs properly therefore it was triggering the light needle properly. Thank god for "DIY: Rearsets installations" and their pictures. All in all, it was totally my fault and not the bikes, thanks Kim
