A different kind of ride-many pics.

I usually go on rides out of the Houston metro area in rural areas on twisty farm to market roads because I hate urban traffic. But today I decided to go to the east side and see some places I haven't been to in years.

First stop-Memorial Park.

Then Elanor Tinsley Park. This was my only choice to park-not the spot I wanted.

Then on to Chatter's Cafe and Bistro for the first time. Had to wait about 10 mins for a parking spot.

Today was a good day to sit outside and eat-about 62 degrees. Eggs benedict with fruit salad and Harris County key map.

Then White Oak St(no pics). This street is a little bit hilly-well, very hilly for Houston ha ha.

Next stop-Washburn Tunnel. It's about 1/2 mile long and goes under the Houston Ship Channel.A train was blocking the roadway for 30 mins-was glad to get past it and get to the tunnel.

The Fred Hartman Bridge is a cable stayed bridge over 2 miles long. This is the best spot I could find for the photo-rode around for 20 mins to find this location. Then over the bridge I go.

The Lynchburg Ferry boat is so small I could not even get a wide angle shot of it while on the ferry. It holds about 12 vehicles.

Here's some Houston Ship Channel traffic.

Last stop the San Jacinto Monument. It's taller than the Washington Monument.

This reminds me of the 2004 ZRX1200R I used to have. This one is an older ZRX1100.

It was a fun day despite the train holding me up for half an hour and typical Houston traffic and road construction. 108 miles total.

It's a Shoei RF-700 with Troy Lee Designs speed bubbles decals. I mounted the helmet skirt with adhesive velcro to make it my cold weather helmet. It's old, so when the weather warms up, it will be retired. I'll probably make the RF-900 the cold weather helmet and my new Scorpion EXO400 the summer helmet.

Nice pics! It looks warm, too...maybe wishful thinking on my part. The ferry looks neat; I didn't realize there were ferries near Houston.

Thanks for the pics. But (gasp!), your gear doesn't match your bike! What would Joan Rivers say?

What kind of saddle bags do you use? I like the look of what you've got, seems an easy fit on the bike, too.

The gear doesn't match because I had the red 650R first. Lesson learned-buy neutral colored gear like black, silver, gray, or white. 'Cause you never know what color bike you may end up getting.--Well, the helmet actually goes back to 1998, long before I had the 650. I had a dark green Suzuki Bandit. I got a red helmet because it was a discontinued model and sold for about half price.

The saddlebags are RKA. I bought them about 5 years ago. They were expensive-I wouldn't pay that much for a pair of bags these days, especially ones that small. Here's a link to the RKA site.

Great pics but you didn't have a pic of my old house on Robinhood Street.

It's a nice little tank bag, but the wrong color for this bike. Next time I'll get a gray or silver one-goes with any color bike
