Thumbs up Two-up on the Ninjette!

I rode two-up for the first time today on my ninjette and I must say it was alot different than I expected! The bike still has much power even with another person saddled up. I was expecting her to struggle a little but there was none whatsoever. I'm rather surprised with the performance. My girl is rather light and wears and XS helmet so I'm sure this makes alot of difference but I enjoyed it and am looking forward to many more rides. Anyone else post up your experience with two-up riding!

Just did some 2-up riding for the first time about a week ago. I'm not a light person and I was also pleasantly surprised at the ninjette's performance with a second rider. It does feel however like the bike is really sagging down because of the increased weight. I didn't think to adjust the preload as I run it pretty stiff already, but I think I might be worrying more than my amusing bike deserves.

Yes I must say it was quite enjoyable! I was just kinda shocked at how much power the bike still had. Kevin! Did you sell your 250?

2 up on the ninjette feels much better after the carb shim. I Just rode across vancouver island on a 02' KLR 650 with passenger, saddles, backpack and gear for the first time and it was sick. that thing had power to spare still. quite different from the 250 but loads of fun.

How much do you guys play with the preload when riding with a passenger?

i've been riding two-up once in a while too! Its so fun and I have no trouble getting around the city. Bike is still super easy to handle and the power is good too! the only thing I find different is the braking. Gotta drive defensively!

I've ridden 2up on mine as well... you can definitely tell when accelerating and braking... but during the normal ride not so much.

2up

I take my wife with me on the Ninja all the time. She loves it. I always ride like everyone is trying to kill me anyway so I don't get surprised in traffic very often. The braking is definitely different though. I'm generally easy on the throttle as well, so acceleration and handling isn't really an issue. Some times I'd like to have a 600 to make things a little easier, but I don't really get into trouble with my wife on the bike, but if I had a 600 I'm sure I would get into trouble without her on it. Plus, the best part about a sport type bike over a cruiser is she normally has to have her arms around me.

That last part is definitely a plus . Took a friend of mine for a ride through the Wichita Wildlife Refuge and up Mount Scott and the bike never ceased to amaze me; made it up the mountain no problem. I did notice one thing though. On the highway, I was getting some weird helmet buffeting. It felt like my head was quickly being pulled one way then yanked the other way.

I have a matte black Fulmer i-shade modular helmet. When I'm one-up and looking forward, the aerodynamics are great! Seems to slice through the wind like butter. My passenger has an HJC... The one up from the R-1 I believe...

I also have a Puig windscreen btw.

Do you have to tilt your head the the right or left? I always had to because my passenger would lay her head on my shoulder. That could be why especially with the Puig because its throwing the air to the left and right. On the 636 it did the same thing to my head, I would just have to tuck more

You know, I'm not too sure. I just sat and dealt with it. I'd be willing to bet though that you're right. I'm not certain, but I do think she had her head over my shoulder.

On the way back, I sat almost too close to the tank for comfort and I can't recall having any problem... I'm going to have to remember to figure this out next time I go 2-up just to curb my growing curiosity Possible since it was dark she wasn't looking forward..

My coworker has to drop his bike off at a shop to get his tires changed out and he needs a ride back to work. So what you are saying is that I shouldn't ride my bike that day right? What do you think if I recorded it, upload to youtube and called it "two guys and a bike"?

glad you got to ride 2up, but you'll definitely notice a drag if you ever go up hills, trust me.

from my own experience on my own ninjette, even on flats I do notice the slight decrease in acceleration. .. and then it feels so much nicer when I'm riding solo again especially WOT

The only acceptable way for two dudes to ride on a scooter...if they are related and one has a broken down car, bike or scooter and the the walk home is more than 2.68 miles and there is a chance of rain.

ROFL!!! I have you know I totally used this today when a few of my friends asked me if I would take them for a ride! Totally priceless!

Question: how do you guys transport your extra helmet? I usually leave my helmet with my friend I normally ride with, but I took a different passenger tonight and found myself holding my space. It wouldn't fit in the drawstring bag I keep in my seat and I really didn't want to try and hold it while driving. My solution to get it to my house 5 minutes away: hook it up on the left side of the bike using the d-ring hook in the passenger seat compartment. It seemed to work, but I think I'm going to get a larger drawstring bag to store under my seat.
