Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild

Hello everyone, so I am in the process of rebuilding my rear brake caliper and I noticed a lot of white residue left on most of the bolts. I was just wondering what this was. Grease? Thread locker of some sort? I noticed some of the white residue on the bleeder valve when I took it completely out. Any idea what this is? Also, should I use thread locker on the bleeder valve? Any other screw? Thanks!

Oxidation.

I use blue threadlocker on the bolts holding the calipers on to the bike.

Oh I guess I should've asked first. Was the residue hard and making everything stick together? That would be oxidation. Often happens to the caliper pins. I put a thin layer of waterproof grease on them to help prevent that.

Withe the heat of braking, regular grease may end up in your pads.

Use a copper or silicone based brake lubricant that is specific for that high temperature application.
