2008 Not starting - battery issue?

Hello all,

I was planning on going for a ride last night but my bike wouldn't start.

I made a quick vid - when I try the starter there is a bunch of rapid clicks. Is the battery dead?

I always have the bike connected to a Battery Tender Jr when parked, and the light was green. It started okay about a month or two ago.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Check ALL connections, check battery, or better yet, have it checked with a load test.

BTW the video wouldn't play for me.

It does sound like a dead battery. If you know some one with a volt meter, borrow it. If not you could pull out the battery and take it to Advanced Auto Parts or Pep Boys and they will test it for you for free.

But first check the terminal connections and make sure they are clean and tight.

After seeing video, I think it maybe the starter?

That is more then a clicking noise. More like a grinding.

After using a voltmeter and consulting the ranges in the service manual, I decided to change the battery.

It was the first time I had to "activate" a battery but it wasn't difficult.

Starts fine now.

Thanks for all the advice!
