Just Bought My First Bike

I just joined this forum yesterday to get some information to help me make my final decision on a bike. Well today I got my blue 2009 Ninja 250r it's already lowered which is good since I'm on 5' 2. I haven't ridden it around much since I don't have my license yet, but I am scheduled to take the BRC in two weeks, and after that I'll take it out for some serious practicing. Anyway I just wanted to share my excitement with individuals who understand since my fiancee is tired of hearing me talk about my bike :-)

Welcome! While you wait for BRC pick up your mom and familiarize yourself with your new bike.

Maybe pick up a book too; I recommend Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.

"mom" = motorcycle owners manual

If you didn't get one with the bike, there is a sticky thread at the top of the new-gen tech section where can download a pdf version of the manual.

Glad you said that, I was really confused. Although, when I got my bike, I had my mother with me while the gave me a "tour" of the bike. So I thought I did good, till I read what mom here means lol.

Congrats on the new bike! Waiting is going to seem like forever lol. But good job on taking the BRC, you will learn a lot.

Honestly, I recommend you don't practice a whole lot with it until you have taken the MSF BRC. You don't want to risk injuring the bike. The nice thing about the MSF BRC is that they let you risk their bikes instead of your own.

Don't forget to get your helmet, riding jacket and gloves. And you'll need some kind of boots for the MSF BRC.

Nice.

I waited to buy a bike after the BRC, just in case I was going to end up backing out of it after learning a bit of motorcycle riding. You picked a good bike, though.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Totally agree! Great bike to start on! I lowered my first bike as well to help give me confidence.

Welcome to the Forum!

My fiance is also 5'2" and we managed to get her some gear online. Jafrum, Motorcycle Superstore, etc. but it seems that Jafrum puts their stuff on insane clearance sales. Her jacket was $45, removeable armor, zip out liner, black and pink with black fringe. My winter jacket and riding pants were $39 and $29 respectively. Also try Cyclegear.com. But nothing beats shopping for new clothes. Yep, I accompanied my better half to shop for her clothes, as every well trained future husband should
