Taking care of leather...help a moron please!

How do I do it? I sometimes ride in the rain. I just got myself a nice set of leather jacket and gloves I want to last as long as I can. After getting rained on, what should I do to ensure my jacket and gloves (and for the future, boots) live a long, healthy life? Other than get rain gear, I'm working on purchasing my first set of nice riding gear, rain gear will come another day in my future and this won't be an issue. But for now... Thanks!

Allow it to dry naturally, don't put it on the radiator or subject it to direct heat. something along the lines of Nikwax leather cream can waterproof it & keep it in good condition. (It's designed for boots, I used it on army boots for years & have used it on a couple of leather jackets too.

I ride almost everyday, commute on the bike in all weather & don't have a car licence so it's bike or bus & don't use any textile/mesh bike gear, it's all leathers.

Lexol works wonders...I have a bottle of the conditioner and it really makes a difference in the color, suppleness, and life of the leather.

+1 buy lexol cleaner and conditioner. Its not too expensive

Also if the leather is wet, dry it with a cloth and air dry. No heat

I use Pecard's stuff on my leather items. Originally bought it for my Kushitani gloves, but started using iton my jacket too

if your boots or gloves get a bit smelly.

put them out in the sun (not hot direct sunlight) my wife does this with my boots and leather gloves at first I was no no no ,I was worried about the sun drying them out.

She said you wear them in the sun all day it wont hurt them ,It really works the uv kills the smell. These Thai country girls are smarter than we give them credit for lol .
