I'm at 6k miles, time for maintenance?
So according to the user manual, 6k is when I should go down the list and clean/adjust/check almost everything on the bike. Truth be told I am not mechanically inclined at all and know little about bikes or cars. Any idea where I should start on this list? The wiki site gives info on how to do most of this, but kinda assumes the reader knows a thing or two about basic mechanics. Does a "Motorcycles for Dummies" exist ?

from what my dealer told me the valve adjustment, carb sync and plugs dont really need to be done until about 12500 miles. He said that it would be a waste of money to do it at 7500, unless you are red-lining it all the time

It's because he doesn't think they make enough $ on it. Some bikes need no adjustment at 7500, and others need quite a bit. That's not only related to what type of revs they've seen up until that point.
