I live in Elkridge, which I think is about an hour from Waldorf...I'm not sure what would be a good 'halfway' point...I looked at a map real quick...maybe Bowie? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about? LOL

I came down with an ear infection this week -- been down and out...I know, boo-hoo suck it up...but I actually have a high pain tolerance so don't realize I'm sick until I'm really sick...so I think I'll be taking it easy this weekend. Sorry. But I really am dying to ride -- let's plan something in August for now, can we?

Yeah, Rt 29 is definitely scary to me, too, but not so bad on a Saturday/Sunday. I've ridden from 100 to HCC via Rt 29 and it's not bad. Anyhow, back to what I was saying ^^Up there, we should really plan something.

WHUT?! Are you getting a new bike or just getting rid of the bike altogether or what? If you end up getting rid of it before we get a group ride together, well, I guess you're just going to have to ride bitch. Haha

Have you ever ridden in a group before? The first time I went on the roads/highways with mine I went as a group. It gave me 1000% more confidence than just riding on my own.

oookay, so now we know possibly TWO guys riding bitch...LOL Michael, you practically live across the street from me. Greg and I will ride with you anytime.

I'm already past the 500 mile mark on my bike...I know I need to get serviced soon, so I'm a little hesitant to ride anymore than another 200-300 miles before my first service.

I'm assuming you're talking about the 600 mile service? Are you planning on doing this yourself or taking it to a shop?

Ellicott City Motorsports told me at 500 miles to bring it in but I should be okay up to 700-800 miles, just depends on how I ride it (which is pretty easy.) No way I'm doing this myself...I'll let them do it. LOL

I didn't see any definite plans posted on Friday before I left work. I don't really log on except for while working...er, um...supposed to be working. But I was recovering...the ear infection I had kicked my butt.

LOL Yeah we did! Clearly you were working! We were wondering if you were or not. Did you deliver? Greg wasn't sure if it was you at our door or not, so he didn't say anything to the driver. hahaha

Okay, we really need to like, sit down, pick a day on the calendar in August, and decide a meeting place and time and stick to it.

Thanks Jo! Wish we had something planned out yesterday, the weather was amazing and I spent it bumming around the house. This weekend calls for 93 degree days with scattered storms on saturday

We ordered online, if there's a way to request you, we will!

I spent yesterday grocery shopping and washing my car, cooking...the usual 'mom stuff' I do. LOL We did go riding last night as a sort of impromptu thing...just for an hour. I found this HUGE parking lot that was lit and had NO cars on it and freshly paved smooth blacktop and I practiced u-turns and tight circles until my hands hurt.

So...how about we tentatively shoot for Saturday, Aug 18th? Or Sunday, Aug 19th?

Sounds like a plan, but you guys need to pick a place that isn't too far... considering my noobie status and the fact that I'm in Burtonsville...

Idk for online, maybe says something like delivery remarks, but most people don't even read it so there isn't a huge chance of success. And you couldn't possibly be talking about the parking lot across the street from exxon on marshalee? I saw 2 bikes there on my way home yesterday. Then again there are people learning to ride there every weekend

Yeah! We were there about 8:30-ish last night. We were thinking of making it a nightly project...if it's not raining just go out and ride for an hour.

Yea, the works for me. We could always meet up in Bowie area... more backroads there than Crofton I do believe.

Denny, you could probably take 198 to 197 to Bowie... that's your best bet for staying off the main roads.

I say the 18th probably works best for me, and the 19th could be our rain date or something lol..

1.) Should I create a new post, away from this thread, for discussing Aug. 18/19th?

2.) Does anyone live near DennyV to meet him closer to his home then to meet with the rest of the group (if we actually get a group) LOL

I meant if you meet someone who does know the area and rather than you riding alone... I wasn't suggesting you need an escort...

I live in Bowie and I can tell you the best backroads in the area are in Davidsonville. That is about the same distance from Bowie as Crofton. The Buell/Ducati group I rode with meet at the BP station on 301 and Ballpark and left from there.

Thing is, going there puts me further away from home haha and deeper into getting lost, midpoint between all of us is laurel beltsville ish

This is why we need to divvy up the MD/DC/VA groups into different sectional areas - in my opinion anyways. I understand we all will have to ride a ways to get to a mutual meeting point and then we have to consider, where we will ride from there? I have already thought about sitting down with a map, literally, to figure something out but I am waiting to hear from everyone interested in doing this first so I can figure out a meeting point.

We should all just ride to meet somewhere in the middle to eat, chat, take some pics, then ride home. LMAO

If it's too much trouble, we just won't do it. I'm a newbie rider myself, I'm not exactly excited to be riding a long time to get somewhere myself because I need frequent breaks (at least every 30 miles.)
