Rear brake pressure

hey quick question to yall...about how hard do your rear brakes engage?...can you lock the rear tire using the brake?...ive been bleeding mine and i just cant seem to get it right...standing still, i can keep the bike from moving with just the rear brake...but when using it while moving, it doesnt seem as good.

most likely you still have air in the line, m/c or caliper. you need to keep bleeding. were you getting any air bubbles at all when you stopped bleeding? how much fluid have you run through the system?

Matt, was the system completely emptied during the crash or just the reservoir? also, did you already fix the leaking washer problem?

o...haha more fun times....i fixed the leak at the master cylinder.....but now i have a leak back near the caliper....i cant find where it is coming from...there is a slight dribble down the outside face of the calliper...i took off the hose there and cleaned off the washers and all that but when i hit the brakes i dont see it coming from there...but it is still dribbling down the front some how...i think i might jsut take the caliper off and look at it.

as for the crash...the resevior was completely empty...but i dont believe the system was emptied because when i first started bleeding fluid came out....so....gah!...

well, before you get any type of reliable braking action, you will need to fix all the leaks first.

Once you fix the leaks, bleeding the system till no air is in the system is next, but until you fix the leaks, you may not be building enough pressure to produce sufficient brake locking power plus you're most likely sucking air back into the system through the leak which in turn further diminishes your braking capabilities.

First things first... fix the leaks.

oh... and watch out. Brake fluid eats paint if left on there for any length of time.
