Picked up my first ninja, some parts questions:
I picked up a 2000 ninja 250r with 15k miles on it.
It needs a few things done to it (thats okay I picked it up on the cheap): Front brake rotor (lurches when I'm on the front brake, can these be resurfaced?) New tires (done some research, what are your guy's opinions i was thinking of the Kenda 657, most of my riding will be commuting), sources for good cosmetics parts? turn signal etc.. this bike was dropped before I got it. I also have one final mechanical question, the clutch was out of adjustment (slipping). I adjusted it to the point where it seems to be working properly and feels right, however there's a clicking coming from the transmission case, all gears, whether clutch is in or out, is it still out of adjustment, or do ninja's just do this. Any other issues I should be looking out for? Thanks! Last futzed with by Taskarnin; November 26th, 2012 at 04:00 PM. Reason: details! |

rotor is too thin to put in the brake lathe.
i like bridgestone and pirellis but i dont commute much talk to tri on this forum about all your lighting equipment needs not sure what clicking you are talking about.. kawis are notoriously clacky but out of adjustment valves or a stretched timing chain will make it extra clackety. sometimes the clutch basket gets loose and a little wobbly and can make noise. lube your chain and cables. change your oils and coolant regularly.

About the front brake
Not speaking from personal experience.
I've read that oil or gunge on a rotor can give uneven braking, until cleaned and lightly sanded. Fairly cheap, worth a try. |
