Just picked up a couple motors for the ninja
After battling issues with oil pressure on the ninja and gernading the motor I searched Craigs list and found a guy in Denver thathad some motors for sale... After some bike chit chat and some negotiation I picked up these two beauties for $150.00 ....
The one on the right is a motor out of a 96 with 4400 on the clock it was a runner when taken out of bike... The one on left was out of a crashed bike mileage unknown but he seemed to think it had a oil leak possible cracked case.... The 96 motor The other motor This is what there going to replace |

What do you all think.. i feel its a pretty good deal...im not sure which one to install the one with the possible leak is alot cleaner than the other but that doesnt usually mean much...Is there a source where I can run the engine numbers to at least get an idea of manufacturer date.. Can't wait till I have time to drop the bad motor and put one of these baby's in there and see how they run...

I think that's a great deal. I once almost picked up not-running engine for $50. I was mostly interested in testing maintenence skills. Unfortunately someone got it before I did.

I'm stoked I hope they both turn out to be good motors .. I won't have alot of time to mess with them as I leave for Moab in just over a week to do some dune riding but once I get back ill have a few weeks before we leave for Idaho .... I'm gonna talk to the guy I got them from and possibly pick up a Rollin frame and some controls to put in the shed for a future 250 street tracker project
