valve cover removed question

what are the two tubes in between the spark plug holes
Would it hurt to clean them?
the image is sideways every time I resize that happens but
the tubes look very dirty

ok sorry

I tried to post the picture again but they connect to the reed valve and they are very dirty,
I wasn't sure if there was any way I could clean that out with maybe a little contact cleaner or something,
I did not know if that acted like a PCV valve where it just takes gas is to be reburned I wasn't sure what direction the gases were going,
I figured I would ask before I start shoving q-tips down there :O

do you mean the sparkplug well drain holes? they go to under the exhaust ports to drain fluid built up near the sparkplug

when you take off the valve cover

there are two gaskets with two circles on each gasket
the big circles around the spark plug well hole,
the little circles around these metal tubes
on top of the valve cover there is a smaller reed type valve that sits over these tubes
compared to most other bikes I see the tubes inside their bikes are very clean mine are completely black and carbonized
I was just wondering if I should clean them out or not, I was doing the valve clearance and noticed it.

i believe those put fresh air into the exhaust in order to "clean it up". unless you need to pass smog i dont think they affect anything
