Featured In the April 2024 issue of Roadracing World:

Even from the far side of Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, the black motorcycle is obviously moving fast, far quicker than anything else. And even though gusting wind whips vision-obscuring sheets of dust across the track, the rider is flying, a second off the outright lap record on a day that was not conducive to speed.

The rider is American Moto2 star Joe Roberts. He’s on his own personal motorcycle, a Yamaha YZF-R1 he bought, paid for, and built himself, and he’s pounding out flying laps. Pirelli stepped up with pre-season tire support for Roberts, who was putting in the hard work to learn the spec slicks he’s racing on this year in Moto2. The season is a bit of a reset for Roberts…

“Interview: American Joe Roberts In Moto2,” by Michael Gougis

At 26, Joe Roberts has rejoined the American Racing team he formerly competed with, and reconnected with the team’s riding coach, John Hopkins, a former AMA Pro, Grand Prix and World Superbike rider in his own right. This comes after Roberts’ three years with the Italtrans squad, experiencing the heights and depths that racing brings. Roberts ran near the top of the timesheets in pre-season testing and he’s looking to keep progressing, with good results and wins. Catch up with the rider most likely to be the next American in MotoGP in the latest issue of Roadracing World!
