[motorcycle.com] - 2015 Klim Badlands Jacket and Pant

Apparel manufacturer Klim updated its Badlands jacket and pant, promising a number of improvements for Adventure-minded riders. Klim first introduced its Badlands attire in 2011, seeing a positive customer response for its combination of storage capacity, armored protection and GORE-TEX waterproofing. For 2015, Klim completely updated the Badlands jacket and pant to increase overall rider comfort, improve airflow and reducing weight.

Badlands Jacket

The updated Badlands jacket receives a new GORE-TEX 3-layer pro shell material Klim claims increases mobility and comfort without sacrificing durability or weather protection. The collar was redesigned to offer more coverage but can also snap back for better ventilation. The jacket also features two chest intake vents, two on the side, two each for biceps and forearms. Warm air flows out the back through two vertical exhaust vents.

The Badlands jacket uses D30 armor for the elbows, shoulders and back while the chest is protected by a siliconized spacer mesh. The armor placement was refined for 2015 while new exterior adjustment straps hold the arm protection in place.

The jacket offers seven external pockets: two on the chest, two on the waist, a spot pocket on the left chest, an ID/license holder on the left forearm and a larger pocket on the lower back. Inside are two zippered pockets, two mesh stashes and a hidden pocket for more sensitive items such as a passport. The hydration bladder compartment is now easier to access.

Other updates include a new headphone access port, custom TPU zipper pulls and pocket flap grips, shortened wrist gaiters and a standardized zipper to connect with riding pants for those who don’t want have to use the matching Badlands pant.

The 2015 Klim Badlands jacket retails for $949.99-999.99 with sizes ranging from small to 3XL. Klim offers three color options: black, gray or hi-vis.

Badlands Pant

Those who do want the matching pants, Klim updated the Badlands pant with a lighter GORE-TEX shell. The pants add Cordura 840D ballistic fabric on the lower legs. D30 armor protects the hips and knees, with new Velcro adjustment cinches for the knee armor. A new Poron XRD impact foam protects the tailbone.

The pants offer four ventilation ports, two intakes on the upper thighs and two exhaust ports at the back of the legs.

Other updates include a new standardized jacket-to-pant connection zipper and water resistant zippers with TPU molded pulls.

The 2015 Klim Badlands pant retails from $649.99-669.99 and is offered in black or gray. Sizes range from 30-42 and tall sizes 32-40.
