CBR125 Challenge
I really like the concept. Cheap bikes and a lot of fun.
The ending is pretty bad, nasty little crash...but all in all a pretty good, albeit long, video.

Wow, parts of that track are pretty rough. Like cobblestones. Needs a re-surfacing.
And the crash at the end.... I was betting it would happen at that spot where they'd created that artificial apex with those black and yellow bars. Sure enough one rider just rode the guy on the inside right into it. |

My cousin races in this series! its pretty competative 14hp limit and there not allowed to modify their bikes past Arrow exhaust, body work and rearsets.

The kicker is the power to weight ratio. It means everything to these small bikes. The rider would have to be very athletic and try to maintain a light weight in order to get a good power to weight ratio. Can we say TONS of cardio? hahaha Because I'm curious I want to do some math. Lets say a 300lb bike with 14hp. Rider: ___200lbs___180lbs___150lbs___130lbs Gross: ___500lbs___480lbs___450lbs___430lbs lbs per HP: 37.71___34.28____32.14___30.71 Big difference. Now lets say the 2011 ZX10 has 190hp and weighs 435 wet. Rider: ___200lbs___180lbs___150lbs___130lbs Gross: ___635lbs___615lbs___585lbs___565lbs lbs per HP: 3.34____3.23_____3.07____2.97 It is amazing at how evenly matched people would be on the zx10 compared to the dinky CBR125. Rider weight is everything. I think I need to lose a few pounds.

These races in Canada are designed for kids, so the weight issue isn't much of a problem.
I really liked my CBR125, I think I would have enjoyed racing it, but at 160lbs I'm probably double what most of the kid racers are at.

That is what I hate (and love) about the small bike races. It is really great since it gives kids an easy way to get into racing. I don't like it because it is like you need at least a 600 to get into the adult playground. I know CMRA and the WERA have 250 classes...but I'd really like to see some hard core, close racing on some small displacement rides. I grow tired of MotoGP, World Superbike and even the AMA classes of racing. I like the supersport series. The Superbike and Daytona series are ruled by factory teams. I'd like more restrictions and closer racing. I love seeing a solid 5+ at the front of the race, just dueling it out.
I'd pay to watch some pros duke it out on 125cc, single cylinder 4-strokes!

I acctually got to see some pros race the cbr's it was a pro am endurance race and it was so close between two riders they were elbowing and trying to fake hit the kill switches down the straights it was super fun to watch and the pro's had a ball on the little bikes

To me, that would be quality entertainment.
