KZ188 Muffler

My 1989 GPX250 is fitted with KZ169 mufflers as standard. I have acquired a set of KZ188 mufflers in really good condition. They look identical. Does anyone know what they would be off and if they are suitable to use as replacements.

Critical dimensions of mufflers should be compared:

- ID of inlet
- ID of outlet
- length of canister

Then compare to OEM GPX250 muffler.

KZ188 Muffler Update

Well finally found out what these are off - 2006, ZZR250. I have now put them on my 1990, GPZ250 and can report the following,

1. The bike pulls harder right through the rev range,
2. Sixth gear pulls as hard as fifth did before the change,
3. I top my local ‘test hill’ At 125kph where previously it was 110kph.

These have made a previously great bike even greater. I did replace the carb set with a set from a later model ZZR250 last year but it seemed to make no difference to performance other than clear up the idle issues the bike had. Perhaps it needed a matching ZZR exhaust system to bring out the full potential. Don’t know and don’t care, just enjoying the purple patch with this bike!
